Jimmy's beach, nsw. My wing cherry got popped. Sorry not sorry windsurfing, but I got bit by the wing bug bad it seems. Blame the Vachy's, evil pushers of the sailing drug big time those two. Snr says to me at Burrum, "yo dude, wanna wing?" What could I say. Of course. That's what happened to me with windsurfing. I had a kite only and a windsurfer gave me a sail, that was it, got hooked.
I stashed the wing deep in the cave of unused gear, and refused to get it ready by buying leashes and things, until now. I was focused on windfoiling this winter, but after last session where I got skunked, there has been no wind and lots of rain.
I binged on heavy mind control wing cult vids such as clayisland 'the fastest wing foiler in the world', and that was that. It's all I can think about now. I wanna do what Johnny Heineken does Laughing

Today was ugly cold and rain, but there was a bit of wind, so out I went with the wing, stoked to try.

Oh, it's hard to get off the knee's, might take some time to do what Johnny does.
There was big holes in the wind there on the shore with some north in it, not the best place to try but all good, i learnt that A -the track mount screws come loose if not tight enough B -the pump works. Happy days.

Naish matador 6m, sky 94ltr, flow 900 windsurf foil

This is not posted right as I used my 645 watch, forgot the new one. As my top speeds were running down the beach skipping like a madman in the rain I didn't think it would count toward any sheep station wins so I hope that's ok.

That's a small board to learn on. I find the 130ltre challenging. Also more wind helps standing up as you use the wing to help.

Bet you can do it before I can though..Undecided

Haha I don’t know Sue. It doesn’t seem as easy as I thought. Definitely not easy in patchy wind, which is why windfoil is good here getting out into the wind. Learning in offshore wind, dodgy but can make it happen quick!

Glad you like the big write up Vachy. I find there is alot to it, coulda write more Laughing It's super interesting that some people don't like them or consider it windsurfing. Influencer youtube channels PVB, Nils Bach, Mario, and obviously wstv, not keen atall!
But the big dogs of speed and style in Oz are clearly having a go so i think that makes me keen to try too. And wings seem to make sense in many regards.
I got scared of foot injury the other day on windfoil, after 3 turtle strikes last year on fin, i fear a big one and i think i'd rather eject out the front of a wing board than slap with a windfoil kit. I realize there are equal injury risks on wing foil too. Or more.
Actually they say there is many turtles dying right now at port Stephens, thats bad.
I'm not sure the wing will work good at Jimmy's yet with the offshore wind. Gotta get out through shadows, that's why big windsurf or windfoil kit works. So we'll see i guess.
Easier than windfoil? Ok cool, maybe it'll be quick then. I know people that never sailed and progress was fast with wings.
Maybe i'll keep windfoiling as it's super fun and practical here. But right now my 4x4 is not running so i can't get to the spit, rigging anywhere else is a hassle. And the tuttle head adapter screws for the foil to go back onto windfoil board got stripped coming out - oh gawd, i'm stuck in wing cult for now.
