4.6m KA Koncept - RS1 (80ltres) - 16.5cm FF ( cutdown 22)
That's the strongest stuff I've sailed since i broke my wrist back in 2022.
Can't say I enjoyed it. I was going to use the 70ltre but reports were it was patchy down the other end..I could have used it and it would have been nicer in the rough stuff..
I stuffed around rigging the 4.6m. KA pulleys and severne ext didn't line up and I couldn't remember how to thread it. I finally got it to rotate but it really needed more downhaul. By now I was over it ( I was the last one out) and just went out. I had to kick the boom cam to pop it after each change of direction.
It's usually a lovely grunty easily rotated sail . Next time I'll rig it properly.
Above my paygrade ( especially with the badly rigged sail). Too old , tired , weak etc etc ..
I Just checked my Garmin chest monitor and max heartrate was 198. No wonder I was buggered.
I did 2 bearaways but decided the risk v reward wasn't worth it.
Took a long time to get back upwind..the sail profile wasn't working properly.
I got some super strong stuff and figured it was too dangerous and I'd round up and step off. A gust got me and pulled me into the sail before I unhooked . My whole body was twisted and I felt my right Pec muscle get strained..Ok, that does it , I'm walking the rest.
Potential was there . The hotshots should have good stats.
Bring on a nice 15 - 20kts of wind so I can practise my gybes please. I'm sick of hanging on and just turning the board around.
One of those sessions where I'm glad to get in relatively uninjured.
