Pelican Point, WA, AU

Nice river sail with a few crew. Unexpectedly got some nice wind out in the middle with a few good runs across to majestics.

Hope the guys that ventured down to Albany get some nice wind. Looking forward to seeing the numbers later.

Powered up foil at Peli. Went to grab my 6.0, but it wasn't a 6.0 (the 7.8 has the same colour bag), so I had to rig a 7.0, which was a bit big in the gusts. Paired with the 560 wing I had a good combo for some powered-up foiling. I was overcooked on the bearaways, so I didn't find much speed, but it was fun to get out after a few weeks with no wind. Really enjoyed it.

Albany!

W WNW nuking in the gusts. Epic fun with Boz, Ronnie and Ant.

5.8m apache, 53 rapid, 16 delta. Sick combo. First run maxed at 43.3... this is going to be  fun. Wind was all over the show, Tide couldnt make up its mind, there were awesome patches of water and if you got lucky they came with wind! Brutal gusts and a bit of waiting to get going. Initially a bit hesitant in the choppy patches with the delta, had one rail grab in an ugly gust where the board launched off a chop at exactly the worst moment... lucky reflexes kicked in and I unhooked instntly before flying... back foot in strap a bit twisted, Kept going. Most runs 40/41 2 sec... then the tide finally started to drop away, making most of the run too draggy except up the top of the nM run. Wind seemed to be much stronger there and suddenly we are getting 40/41kt 10s. ronnie started firing too! Stoked he nailed gust of the day in the flats. I was next but there was no wind until almost too late- hit max speed sailing past Ronnie right where he'd parked for safety due to gnarly chop. Peak was 45.17. Happy with the speed for where I did it! "One more run" turned into 3 (2 where there were no gusts until a second after me- pulled the trigger too early). Was getting calf cramps, forearm cramps and thigh cramps so time to pull the pin. I'll do that again for sure!!

totally worth it... and to see the grinning TT ronnie at the end.

Ronnie! Good to catch up last night, and thanks for the hospitality.

Was awesome to be sailing with someone who's up for pushing the limits. The conditions were intimidating, with big consequences if things went pear-shaped. Violent wind at times. So stoked you got that window finally to send it properly... we all knew you could do it but over here in WA we've been a bit starved of useable gale force winds for several years now. How good would it have been if that later wind/tide setup came a bit earlier and for longer... we were all spent by then.

Thanks everyone. I thought it was never gonna happen because we (Boz, Antman, Slowi) have sailed these brutal conditions before.

It was just that the timing (gust, tide and area) was perfect. when the gust hit it felt like i was going with the wind no massive pressure in the sail. but saw 44.9kn on my gps unit. It happens so quick and you end up at the end of the run (what is not long) in a foot of chop to slow down. scary i can tell you that.

Anyway my max speed was 45.603kn and we all survived it. Hope for the next storm and have another crack at it with the boys Laughing
