Denham, WA. Tried a new spot at Fowler's Camp just south of Eagle Bluff in the afternoon after a relatively fruitless morning in Denham bay. Initially went for a run across the bay at Fowler's Camp but the wind got stronger and the swell got bigger as I made my way across and gave that idea up. However, on further assessment it looked like sailing the northwestern shoreline could be the go so drove on the sandy track to this beach and found following the shoreline heading northwest meant I was bearing away a reasonable amount in the prevailing southerly and could run between the swell, salvaging an epic run. Sonic 85, 5.8 koncept (Thanks Ricey) 22FF

Now that was more like it!

I was still tired and sore after yesterday's battle with the elements, and was tempted not to sail, but being only 5 minutes away I couldn't ignore the wind and thought I must go and check it out. My plan was - if it is as windy as yesterday I will go home. If it is only 12 kn I am too weary for a 7m sail and I will go home. If it is 15 - 18 then...

15 - 18 on the gauge with gusts to 21.

Being weary after yesterday I decided to ignore my algorithm that said 6.2, and I went with the 5.8. It was windy enough for the speed board but I decided to go for comfort. I am sure I sacrificed a bit in peak speed, but it sure made up for it in fun.

Saw a 30 on the dial a few times but it didn't last for 2 sec. Not enough power to go deeper downwind for a better 2 sec. Maybe I should have used the 6.2...

All the numbers were better than yesterday except for the 2 sec.

5X, hr, nm and km were the best since January when I broke my foot.

I felt today that I was starting to find my mojo again (meaning starting to remember how to go fast)

Fantastic numbers for Melville, Snickers, given the wind was only moderate there today.

Great sailing Topcat. a near 30 kn naughty is hard to do in choppy conditions.

One of my best speedsailing memories is going for a nm and doing 29 kn running down between the swell lines in a winter squall at Melville. In white out conditions it was like sailing in a tunnel. Awesome.

Great to see you're getting your mojo back Anita with some great results! I know exactly what you mean about contemplating pulling the pin because the conditions are outside of the parameters you've set for your fatigue level. That's the great thing about GPS, it gets you out of your comfort zone and you push through the muscle soreness and tiredness for one more run, and then another because you're only 0.1kn from beating your PB or you're at 29.9kn and want to hit the magic 3-0. Hang on, we were both tantalising close to 30's!
