Sandy Point. Vic.

I took Hajime down an hour before low tide in a West to WNW blowing 20-30 knots. While I stopped the car to check the wind it sank into the wet sand and got stuck. So I sent Hajime out and went back to town to borrow my neibours Patrol 4WD. But the time O got back and yanked it out, the wind was gusting well over 30.

I rigged my 5.4m and took the CA40 but I was wildly out of control broad reaching downwind to the Yanakie channel. The wind was pretty much stright West with the occaisional hint of WNW. That made the bank very square and I was pretty much out of control on the reach along the bank. I tentatively tried a few small bearaways amd crapped myself in the chop. One big crash during a NM attempt and I gave it away. ironicly, it would have been fine, and quite fast, if the wind was NW.

I watched Hajime have a few big stacks in the chop and by the time I had got back and started derigging, he was back as well.

Wind from Yanakie station - it was definitly a bit stronger on the inlet!!:

Sandy Point :W 20-35knots at Yanakie channel

CA40/RX1-5.1/KA Speed21.5

It was very hard to go downwind in choppy water.

I need more weight.
