Tibor (18420km): Lake Weyba, QLD, AU Well, not too bad. Sunshine and good company. Quita few guys out enjoying the. 6./13 knotish wind. Lots of fairly good jibes today. I wish l could remember them tomorrow! | ||||||||||||||||||
sboardcrazy (25673km): 5kts with patches of 10-12kts and occasional 5 mins of 12-15kts SSW before rain Valentine, NSW, AU 7.2m Moto - 125ltre tabou bullit - 38cms tectonics weed demon WT64 ( 112ltres) - 35cms Tectonics WT57 ( 90ltre) - 28 cm WT weedy I decided to try a larger sail. I usually would have used the 7.5m Turbo but I'm not strong enough yet. I usually find the Moto user friendly and easier to use than the 7.5m but cripes it's heavy! Draining the water trying to beachstart , underpowered waterstarting and uphauling were exhausting.. I just swapped boards depending on the conditions. I took a risk with the little one. Both times I went for a nice little run in the stronger stuff and saw it was going to die. I managed a dry gybe and back in just as it died to 5kts. Lucky I didn't fall in or I would have been stuck out there. It was worth it for the buzz. I was miles too hot for most of the session. Only me with one winger who spent most of the session floundering due to not enough wind . They usually fly past me when I'm plodding so I got revenge when I flew past him on the little board after he'd fallen in.. The lake was empty except for one giant 50' cruiser ( it was so big I thought it was the ferry). We were on a collision course and I was plodding. It was going fast and would have gone ahead of me but it kept going slower and slower. I stopped and tried to stay upright but there wasn't enough wind and when I was 10m from it I had to fall in the water to avoid collision.. Brr.. Any way it was fun. Trying some new tips for the gybe entry and they are making a big difference. Just got to get the foot weight right and concentrate on the arc. No wonder I'm so fit when I sail regularly. 2hrs drive , carrying all the kit , sailing , washing up and hanging once home. zzzz No wind for a while now. I usually find it hard to get back up to speed after a break but I've been surprised at how easy I've found waterstarting ( except for the big kit) and how my gyes are. Smaller kit certainly helps..
