Jimbob (26496km): Lake George, W 15 to 35, from the spit. KA Koncept 5.0, F2 missile with 21 techtonics nomad, F2 sxs with 24 choco. Gusty Gusty westerly,( I hate Westerly wind ) just couldn't find my mojo today.from sinking to over the top in one run. really hard to have the gear set up for the highs and lows, gave up on the missile and went on the slalom. I sucked bigtime today didn't even really do a gybe. no real flat water either and where there was there was also no wind, still weed but its just too low at the moment. was good to catch up with Choco and PJ. the weir boards have been put into the outlet to stop water flowing out on the low tide but is flowing over them at high tide so mostly fresh water from now on flowing in from the drains. this is good as the fresh water has a lot of fertiliser washed in from the farms and is wicked for the weed growth in summer.

Full Bogan (42931km): Fingers crossed the wind drought is over here in SA. Been one of the worst winters I can recall. Had a great sesh with a few of the regulars. Me and carl battled it out for the afternoon. We were very close on the numbers. Carl was looking super quick and cumfy. Was good to have a sesh with him again. Me on the other hand was a little all over the place seen as I haven't done much for a while. Suprised I got any numbers considering I nearly stacked it several time. Great day on the water
Captain skip bogan (50112km): At last some decent wind to try out 2012 Hot sails Maui Gps 6.0m - great sail. Gusty westerly as usual but great fun. Had some close match racing with Sam on most runs - has been too long since we had enough wind to do that. He was smoking as usual in some choppy conditions. Had a couple of brown staining moments too. Boggy lake - 15 - 25 knots. Isonic 86 / 2012 6.0m Hot sails Maui gps and Black project R325 fin.
Choco (14530km): Lake George, wind was all over the place as was the water condition when the squalls hit got very choppy didn't bother going for any speed used the session to try out a few new things , good to catch up with Jimbob and meet Pete for the first time, all looks good for summer plenty of weed in the lake just need some warm sunny days now to get it to bloom to stop the chop.
PJ (24612km): 5-08-12 Lake George-W 15-35 knots-Fanatic SL89-Loft Blade 5.6m-Delta Speed 18cm Hey finally met up with Choco and of course the gentleman host for Lske George JimBob:-) I'm definitely no speed chicken and in fact the wind was a gnarly, tons gusty and even though the water was flat it was shallow choppy with the chop running to square to run broad.... hey I'm lame lol Oh and I was overpowered!! Rided out one interesting squall with Choco 40 metres away in the water, fun! I did have the best stack ever and even enjoyed it laughing after. Going into a fast gybe and literally flew over my gear, skidded a couple times over the water. New sail 5.6 felt okay, also new fin Delta Speed 18cm. Sailed upwind okay, can let go but easy to retrack. Felt weird off-wind, sort of felt loose like it would let go but then I was scared of stacking big!. Reaching was fine like any pointer fin. Gybing felt like any normal fin:-) |
