sacrificed the best of the wind by having an appointment at 10.30. Didnt look too inspiring but I eventually got out around 4pm when the wind came back in to a scary 5-15kts. Rigged the 7.5m as full as I could and spent a little time planing after some serious pumping. Eventually the wind built to a stonking 12-18kts and I got comfortable a few times on the 7.5m. One or two little puffs came through later- the best after sunset. Gybing was tedious since there was never any wind at the other side, so I'm quite happy to see a string of 22kt alphas.

ah that felt better!...pretty close to forcastexcept they forgot to mention the gigantic lulls in between the squalls,i am guessing max gust 25kn min and down to 5kn.

isonic 105,7.6neutron,36brushcutter used this for the hour and used the ca50,5.8kon and 25 weedeater

great to catch up with the crab crew the first half of the day was up and down and this pretty much killd any chance of distance.the last 2hours saw a faily steady 15 to 18 which enabled an hour attempt.

was very tempted all day to wear weight but the lulls made it difficult to justify sticking it on.

pretty sure Claude got better numbers all round so hopefully he can work out how to get data off his new navi.

Great session at Hardies, Snides described the conditions perfectly, sailed with Isonic 86, 6.1, 29cmF1 most of the time, used 111, 8.3, 38cmL.E weedy when the wind dropped of at times, a bit risky sailing out 7-8k's on estuary not knowing if the wind was going to last, trip to Mandurah today was a good move, the wind back in Perth not so great.

I cant wait for a day where something smaller than 7.5m becomes a viable option. I have a feeling that some hurt is soon to be dished out by snides and claude... but I might jinx their GPSs if I say more.

Na the boys did well, Claude had just shy of 100Nm up and Steve wasn't far behind him, they both had great speeds.

The bit which stunned me was Claude coming in at the end of the session with a Tecky on instead of a weedy.

They were two happy campers which should have been workingWink

Well done to all SRM who sailed. Yes Mandurah was certainly the call by the look of things!

Geat distances and Snides and Claude - moreso given the wildly gusty winds.

Top effort Snides and Claude. I was hoping to get some distance in too but on the river for 3 hrs elapsed gps time did 40km!

cheers Vando...though i dont reckon the numbers are enough.. i reckon all you need is a good 20knots for an hour ,this would see all but 1 of the categories bettered especially seeing how we are only in the middle of the month,plenty of time for teams to catch up...and for Srm to improve...

yesterday was a real roll of the dice for me,i had planned to take the day off as the forcast had been holding for a couple of days so after seeing the doc early i headed sth to crab land,all the while as i was driving i couldnt help but notice there was absolutely zero wind,i decided afer about 40k's that it was a waste of time so i did a u'e and headed for work. i was almost at work when i dialled the graphs up on the mobile and noted that the wind at crab land had just swung s/west and was around 15kn i also rang Claude and was surprised to find  he was already there! so i did another u'e and headed off on the 1.5 hr trip.

i got there at 10.30 and rigged the 5.8 and drifted out to see Claude. we had several squalls come through that kept us interested but i must admit after 3 odd hours of this i thought it had been a bad move going down.

if it wasnt for the 1-2 hrs of 15 to 18 knots it would of been a complete write off.Anyhow it was good to finally get on the water and get some much needed therapy.
