5828 days ago Just like Ado's recent post, Windforce Downwinder today. Great fun race, although a little bumpy in part. Very stoked with my result with no falls either !. No official placings but finished at the same time as Claude so I'll take that any day!!. Stupidly forgot to turn on GPS until almost the end but had a couple of great runs afterwards at Peli. Big thanks to Steve and everyone who made it possible. Look forward to the next one.

5828 days ago Windforce Swan River Downwinder and what a great turnout!! It's fantastic to see that there seems to be a renewed interest in competitive windsurfing in WA now, perhaps greatly aided by the advent of GPS, and this website. So thanks very much to Steve from Windforce, and the guys from Windsurfing WA - Garry, Benny, Dan and all the other helpers on the day, and of course to the seabreeze which was a moderate one, but enough to make the course a challenge in the weekend chop. Congrats also to Slowy taking line honours over a quality fleet, and another SRM member, Matt Langer in 3rd. I sailed like a kook - falling off on my only gybe, but you get that.

5828 days ago 2 categories Pt Walter to Peli Pt blast was fun but a bit over powered on Isonic 111, 7.7CR, 44cm Vector, 86 with 6.7 would have been a better choice.

5827 days ago yep that was fun today. The downwinder was great- 40 or so starters for the mad dash. Same setup as yesterday for me and absolutely loving it. This has to be the best moderate wind combo I've ever had for chop and "swan ocean" conditions. '09 Koncept 7.5m (hey ado- how good is that thing??!!) , CA SL62, and CL37 carbon fin. The wind was gusty, chop was close together and steep- glad for the longer nose there. Upwind was flying- got to the end of Pt Walter in 4 legs from Peli Pt- 1 stack and 2 gybes. Never done that before. Then downwind to the jetty. Reckon I must have got some rather lucky wind shifts... Same with the race "that wasnt a race" (cos it was unofficial) Hit the line with Dan downwind and Jesper upwind... then didnt see them for a while. GPS has me finishing in 6:20.
Had a good sail after with Claude doing a bit of random slalom and got my best alpha around the stick post with the weather station off the end of Majestic Pt.

5827 days ago Unexpectedly good afternoon on Melville Water in 10-15ish on the big kit; Manta 69, Koncept 8.5 and Tomcat 42. Great fun and I am really starting to enjoy this setup. Good fun slaloming with Daryl later at Melville Beach.

5827 days ago 1 categories Launched from Melville and did the point walter to peli race but did not formally register - too late by the time I struggled up to Pt Walter on a dodgy patchy breeze.
I am completely over the river on weekend afternoons - especially about 5pm onwards on a Sunday with all the $1M+ runabouts coming back from Rotto - the place is a mess!!
Great turn out for the race - wind not up to forecast but for the tack back to Meville it had booted in nicely!

5826 days ago loooooongggg day at mandurah. Got there before the breeze came in and was greeted by about 1-2kts easterly, so waited around for about 30mni untill the seabreeze hit. then rigged sxm+6.7+40sl ultra, and fheaded out in about 10-12kts wsw. not planning for about 30min, but finally did and managed some runs at the top of the estuaryin the smallish chop, before heading downwind looking for that f@#$in sandbar in the middle of the easuary... took a long time to find because it looks like part of the shore from way upwind. was interesting to see how flat the estuary is over the other side, probably due to the shallower water and nearby landmass...
anyways finaly found the sandbar/island as the breeze was starting to pick up, and then headed back upwind to the launch to downhaul the sail futher. Embarrsingly the legs upwind ended up being my fastest hour, as it seeed to be the onlytime where i sailed non-stop .
after getting back to the launch and meetin snides n sam put some more donwhaul on and headed out for the standrd hardies run sailing. eventually changed fr the missile and 5.8 and did some speeed runs, but was waaaaayyyy to tired to sail properly. still, with the tide being perfect at the end of the session, about another 5-10kts could have made it into a pb day for the 2sec/10sec.
overall a great fun day that was certainly a valuable learning experience concerning distance and hour attempts... happy with the pb and hopefully can get the 200 next time
