Nice day smashing through scarborough chop on the slalom gear. First day out on the new '09 Koncept 5.8m. Very nice. Light and balanced. Probably a bit small for the wind, but it was ROUGH. Crazy out of control downwind runs on the SL55 with CL30 fin. Had some good runs with Matt, and saw Nebs ripping into the shorebreak.

Quick dart down to Hardies. Arrived abbout same time as Elmo - he said he was going the hour [to trump the Hardie]. I said I'd go with him if he was going to do the big transits across Peel Inlet! Happy with a PB hour - think i'll need a pointer to better 26.

Tabou Manta 64, 6.6 Koncept, 34 weed [45 degree], GT31 doppler.

Finally some numbers to be happy about. Down at Safety Bay for the annual Xmas/NY holiday and sailing one of my fav bits of water. Sailed like a complete numpty today and with heaps of kite pollution, freestylers at the top of the speed run and drifting runabouts made it chaos, so just focused on going flat out when enough available water presented itself. Bit overpowered on 6.7 initially so changed from 32 to 28 weedy with flatter sail made things a little easier but still a strange session.

ISonic 87, CR 6.7, LE weedy 32 then FO 28 weedy

Good to see you out there Slowy, I can't believe you got a 33 out there in that chop!  You're at a level that's so far away it's not funny.  Look out LOC!

I had an awesome day at scabs, caught more waves than I can count on my fingers, which is a complete and utter record for me Cool  The last one was a pearler, managed to pick the swell out the back and ride it in, couple of bottom turns, very very very totally AWESOME!!!!  Still got rinsed a couple of times but hey that's the price you've got to pay.

Well done on the hour Pete, got my best hour using a weedy , very handy when jibing in the shallows at the other end, we'll have to team up early in the new year and give 27 a nudge.

Nice work team! I've been in a perpetual BBQ week it seems, and most of them seem to be smack bang in the middle of prime sailing time. But beggars cant be choosers... I've still had a great time with the "scraps". Sailing at Scarborough was great fun today. Hardly record breaking but one of the most tricky bits of water to try to go fast on. Nice to get out and persist in that for a bit- you can get used to it surprisingly quickly and I reckon it does a lot for your confidence on other out-of-control days. Good to get out of the comfort zone once in a while. I was stoked after that mission. Wouldnt want to do it too often though- I would be racking up a large list of worn-out and broken race equipment (and body). It absolutely hammers the cr@p out of your gear. It helps to have comfy equipment... Damn I'm glad for the slightly longer nose of the SL55.

Wise words Slowy. Safety Bay was like that yesterday outside of the sandbars. really rough, steep chop which gave me a couple of beltings for good measure, but great practice for a windy LOC.
