Peli Point racing today. Great turnout, good fun, lots of wind. Actually used my 5.6CR for the first time this season Surprised, was cranking nicely in the bigger gusts. Haven't sailed for 10 days so very stoked with 6th in first race but it was all downhill after that....hard work in that chop and wind

Peak speed was achieved on one and only practice run before the racing. Would have liked to have done some more speed runs in the shallows which were quite clear today but didn't have the time or energy after racing Tongue out. I hear some big numbers are a coming from the Slowman......

Mad dash to Mandurah after work. Held up for 20 minutes by a bush fire near stakehill road. Major road rage - deep breathing and sought assistance from Hardie on arrival.

Hit the water at 6pm - 5.8 Koncept, CarbonArt SP50 [thanks Chris], 23 weed 45degree. Choppy as hell due to high tide! A bit underfinned too I think! Timbo was flying and had reporeted 39+.

Melville 6.6m SP44 CL24 asy. And as usual not getting powered up for more than a second or two. I optimistically rigged the 5.8m and after one early run  wasting all my energy trying to stay planing decided to stick to the 6.6m. At the end of the day the wind was still patchy. I dont reckon I found any gusts much over 25kts, but I saw a few where I wasnt. I did get powered up for a total of about 3 seconds on runs for the WHOLE afternoon there.

Then I went to Pt Walter in the fading wind and discovered it was windier there than it had been all afternoon at Melville. Got a couple of 38s in the chop (tide had apparently made it worse) and made it back about 5 minutes before the wind completely shut down at Melville. Might have to head there tomorrow. Was using a 26cm symmetric fin I made the other day. Felt super stable and slippery in the chop.

Looks like loads of guys had some fun in the first bit of speedable wind we've had in ages.

Smoking mile there PD! At first glance I thought you'd done it on the river.

Poor old Slowy - only 40 knots today eh...nevermind, one day you'll get to go fast

nice work PD. That SP50 is quite a big board (I float on it), and a 23 weed fin would have almost definitely been too small for it! Nice Pt Walter effort John. I might have to tear myself away from my starboard tack asy fins for a change... Pt Walter seems to be getting more wind than Melville.

Pointman - awaiting rectification of small puncture wound inflicted by parallel attack by small bicycle [pedal I think] piloted by smallest [still much loved] offspring in crowded garage!

awwwww cmon guys, I had a great day. Cant sound too excited! Great to see so many people getting the bug. Just watch out for other people when you are shooting downwind. There was another collision today at Melville, but fortunately everyone walked away with gear intact.

snides you need to teach the babies how to rig and unrig for you... and bring coffee and tea (beer) when you are done.

Yeah the blowies were viscious yesterday. I stopped for a minute to chat to the craw and was getting nipped by blowies. Kicking them off like flies. Little bastards. Then one bit hard and drew blood. BASTARD.
