Good session at Melville. Not too much of a rollercoaster. Rigged the 5m expecting it to fill in and it did.Cool

Decided to try a pointer again and despite shifting the base forward was getting out of sorts going over the chop. YellOne big crash later I decided to move it even further forward and it settled down enabling better speed in the bear away but nothing to get too excited about.

Bunch of 30 knot 10seconds in the corner.

Spent some time going for alphas but kept losing track of my wash for the return. Thought I might have got more than a 22.

Overall a fun outing. Good to catch up with a bunch of southsiders, Jeff, Marcel and Chris.

Koncept5m,JP84,31cm pointer.

Melville, great fun. 5.8 Ezzy, Sonic 95, Drake 34. had the kind loan of a choco 32 which was nice, unfortunately I was too tired by then to really get it right. Top 2 sec was on Drake but followed by a 30.3 on the Choco.

Had a good session at melville. The squalls were awesome. Perfect amount of power on the 5.3. Gear not really suited to speed but had a good go anyway. Bugger about the ending though. Yell

Thanks for all the nice comments (the loan of gear and advice is also always appreciated).

The choco (On loan from the the South Siders portable windsurfing shopSmile, with advertising !) was much more controllable. I managed to spin it out but compared with the Drake it was very smooth. None of that tail walking stuff !

The 1 hour was almost exactly the first hour, then I stopped for a rest. Glad I didnt go in sooner.

Now at least I have gone faster on the Sonic than my Kombat , only one way from here, better fin, better sail, better times Wink

Jeff not surprised the 34 Drake was a bit of a handful...that's a pretty big fin for that sail-board combo.

On my S-type yesterday (pretty similar specs to your 95 Sonic) I was running a 28 C3 Venom with a 5.8 Koncept and I didn't feel under-finned.  The 30 Venom might have been a better choice, a bit more lift to get the tail up off the water, but around 30-32 should be on the money with a 5.8.

Decided to strap on the GPS and head to the river. Had a good session at Melville.... saw Lao Shi. Was all good until I stepped on something about 10 metres off the shore which sliced the underside of my foot open... put a trail of blood through the car park. Blood spurting everywhere....Just got out of hospital... I'll post tomorrow after the pain meds have worn off. Looks like I'll be out of action for a while. AARRGGHH!!
