5578 days ago Nice day at Melville. Started out super-windy (recorded 43.6 knots on the wind guage) and then backed off through the afternoon.
The river just seems so smooth and the rounded off lines of chop all go in one direction - it's bliss!
Manta 49, North Warp F2009 5.2, KA 23sym.
Was 5.7 weather after the initial onslaught but I was too lazy to change.

5578 days ago 1 categories Melville beach, waiting for the wind to ease up was a mistake, when I finally decided to go out the best of it was gone, struggled today with W49, a bit hairy through the chop and may be more suited to flat water,
W49,borrowed CR 5.6 from Jez, and 26F1, nice combo .

5578 days ago Nice day out. Pretty crazy wind at first with a series of squalls coming through and seeing several 40kt+ gusts. Clearly it wasnt 7.8m weather so I rigged the 6.2m. I used some more downhaul than the day before. Probably a bit too much in hindsight. SP44 with a CL24S. First run was underpowered, second run I hit a smoking gust and hung on over the lumps. Got 43.15 on the dial. Today was working a bit better on port tack since the wind had a touch more westerly than yesterday. I came in and changed to the SP53 and 23KA sym, but the wind was backing off by the time I got back out. Still got a string of 40s and 41s on the dial so very happy considering the conditions werent close to perfect. But there was wind. And that means speed. The wind really dropped at the end so I backed the downhaul off and went on a NM mission in the dark. Was barely planing for some of it and cruising the rest. Sail felt way more balanced with less downhaul. Interesting :) Great SRM turnout today!
