Down to Mandurah in the morning with Chris and Recycle.   Sailed on the Manta 67, Koncept 7.5 and Venom 35.  Came in for a spell and stuffed my hour reading - got the time wrong.  Then after lunch when the wind picked up pulled out the CA 50 and Koncept 6.6.  Had one relly fun run but realised too late that I had sweet fa water under my fin so pulled up and walked upwind 200 metres.  Got going upwind and trimmed 5mm off my fin as well as pushing the fin into the box 1cm.  How do I fix that - plastic in the box is dented?

About 4:30pm I also dropped into PP for a short sail on the CA50 and 6.6 but it was very shallow and tooo gusty.

All in all a fun day.

Quick hack at Melville after work. Less wind that I had expected. Died to SFA at the end and had to do the WOS from kite land!! 6.6 Koncept , 64 Manta , 33 Falcon.

Really nice little day out at Hardies Run!

Recycle, Whitey and I hatched a plan to rack up some KM and have a crack at the hour for the team. Started out in 15-20 knots on the Manta 69, North Warp F2009 7.0 and Tectonics Talon 40 and did the hour. It got pretty hard work by the end as the breeze swung further south and picked up to solidly 20, with puffs a little higher.

Had a little break and changed to the 6.3 on the Manta 49 and Lockwood/KA 23 sym. First time on this combo and it felt brilliant. I'm pretty sure the breeze wouldn't have reached 25 knots so I was happy to get these speeds and bag a couple of PBs! Woohoo!

Would have done a few more KM, but I ended the day by destroying my fin on a big rock. Still smiling though.

Nice mile Whitey, sorry to see you modified your board and fin. Hardies when the water is low has altered several boards and fins ( and the odd sail, foot, etcFrown)

Well done Whitey I saw you on that run and you looked bloody quick was very worried for you tho with the weed islands and you coming in too close to shore, need 20cm more tide to go near there.

Whitey I did the same with my fin & box except I punched a hole through the plastic, not as big a drama as I first thought, box is set in closed cell foam. Anyway here is how I was told to do repair which worked a treat.

(1) Get epoxy resin and fiberglass
(2) chop up glass and mix into resin to form a runny paste.
(3) push into damaged area, work in well with board standing on tail, the put a little excess over damaged area.
(4) wrap fin base in glad wrap/cling film to prevent resin sticking, 3 layers should be enough.
(5) push fin into box but not all the way in say 2-3 mm proud.
(6) when the resin has fully cured, say overnight, remove fin and file back to get the fin fitting.

Before using the board tape the tuttle holes up and  fill the box up with water with a small amount of detergent and place in the sun to check for any bubbling around the repair.

How's the new freeway?

Does it cut much off the travel time?

Chris Adamson

The new Freeway sure cuts out a lot of traffic lights, but still took me an hour to get home to East Perth. It's a much nice drive though.

Pointman

new freeway is a good ten minutes quicker  even from Fremantle .

The best exit is Lakes Rd, from there you have 2 choices .

The best according to the locals is to stay on lakes rd which involves a left turn at a set of lights ,then follow it to Pinjarra Rd then right and soon after left onto Mandurah Rd

The other way is to continue west were Lakes Rd turns into Gordon Rd then left onto Mandurah Rd.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, and well done to Whitey and Recycle on some great team work to nudge us to the top of the table.

I'm pretty sure there is still some re-working to do yet though, pending the arrival of a certain cold front through SP on Sunday.
