Wallyworld session.

Tide was very low so took my time rigging. Bertie came and went but came back later. Joined after a while by Whitey of SRM and his mate.

Early runs through the chop as the run in to the bank was too shallow a good run at just under 36 out to the channel marker and a few more 35s.

Chris arrived about 3 and went back out with weight jacket. Wind started to swing as the tide filled and got a great run down the bar for a 37.14 on the dial. 4 runs later spun out in the chop by the channel marker and despite trying to ditch arse first did an Ado and collected the boom with my snoz at 30 knots! Surfaced to a fair amount of claret but no missing teeth or broken bones or gear. Bonus!

Decided to go in as I didn't think the guys would be too pleased with me chumming up the river!

Needed one more good 10 sec (always the same story) and was tempted to go back out but decided to call it quits.

Chris had a high 34 on the display but stuck with it and I think he is in PB land now! Congrats.

Alpha actually crossed  and only had a max speed of 26. When I finally get my arse in gear this board is going to blitz the PB.

Bionic Koncept 5.8 (Thanks Jesper for the rebuild worked and looks great), *brd nonose, Elmo banshee 24 weedy.

Can't complain about two days in a row at almost 37knots.Woohooo!Cool

Spent the day at work trying my best to concentrate, but at the same time peeking at the graphs to see all the conditions align for an EPIC session at PW. I could stand it no more at 2:30 and was on my way.

Arrived to see Mark taking a break and a couple of other guys having a run. Looked good! Tide was maybe a bit low, but I knew it was on its way up.

Easy peasy 33 on the second run, and I started thinking today I could finally crack 35. A few frustrating 34's and I came in for a break.

After seeing a bit of carnage with HUGE stacks from Mark and Bertie I wasn't too keen on sailing all alone, so waited until Jemma got down to help salvage gear or body. Hit the water and it seemed all the wind was gone, a few 32's and then I signalled that I'd have one more run down the bank.

A big cloud loomed and I took off in the gust. It had a lot of south in it, so I was already running a little off the wind approaching the bank. Struggling to keep it all together as I wound up over 30 knots on a fairly tight reach. Managed to fly the fin and keep my poise before the big bear-away at the bank. Perfect timing with a huge gust, and the board settled down as I headed deep off the wind. The acceleration was incredible, but otherwise felt like any other run. I knew it was fast when I tried to round back upwind (at what I thought was the end of it all) and the fin instantly jumped up out of the water again.

Really happy to finally crack 35, and relieved that I didn't damage myself on the deadly patches of snot weed.

Thanks to Mark for the tips, and I hope your face recovers soon.

Been hanging out for a solid Sou' Wester at Woodies even since I acquired the CA47 back in March.  Today delivered.

Wind reading when I arrived was 27-33K.  Ebbed and flowed thru the arvo, but pretty consistent around 25-30K.

CA47 + 5.8 Koncept + KA 23 assy.

Sweet combo, the KA assy is rock solid.

Very low tide, so the inside line was out and I was staying a couple of hundred metres offshore during my speed runs.  Only two kiters when I arrived, so no drama's early on.  Later on there was six of the fxckers and it started to get a bit hairy picking my line thru the strings.

Solidly powered up on the 5.8, and the board was riding up nicely on the fin.  Got a 35.4K 500m, so the gusts had some legs and I was sailing well down the strip.

Switched to the S-Type + 30 Venom for some alphas and scored a PB.  Awesome set up for Alphas today, and I think I could've pushed the PB higher, but by this stage I was knackered and gybing in 25K+ requires some effort.

Stoked to finally score some decent numbers on the speed board, I can smell 40 from here Tongue out

Hey Lao, your sailing so consistently fast these days!!!!!!!  Great Stuff!!!!!  No wonder your not coming down to Hardies, was a bit like a washing machine today, got airborne at 36kts talk about adrenalin rush, and the weed banks are killer, hopefully clear a bit more by 28/29 Nov

Thanks, Hardie. Finally feel like I am getting up to the level of you Elite boys.

Awesome effort, Chris. Peak increase of a knot and a half and nearly an alpha PB too! Well earned PB's.

Let's see what Pointman got at Woodies!

Nice numbers lads, well done on the PB's Chris!

Nailed some PB's of my own at Woodies but technology is fucking with me big time.

Got one GT-31 with lock-up, albeit with a display speed of 38.89K, and no data on the card.  Back up GT-31 doesn't save data to card (another bloody bug) and I'm having the usual headfxck of a time trying to get data off Navilink.

Had an epic sesh is a solid 25-30K, fully lit on the 5.8 Koncept + CA47.

Stay tuned!

Hey Pointman, try this (with a card in the GT-31 that isn't locked up):

  • Go to Data Logger in menu
  • Select "Save to Card" and press the toggle
Using Navilink is an excercise in frustration.

I was out at Peli on a 5m and Lemony, then iSonic... but I left the bluddy GPS at home.
Still great fun chasing Marcel around the river Laughing

Fantastic, Pointman!!! So glad you got your data. To be skunked by two units on a PB day would be so unfair!

I kept looking at the tide at Wallyworld and thinking it would be too shallow at Woodies. Should have joined you!Yell

That is a great average and takes you way out in the lead on Pinnas average and our best speed result ever! Cool

Thanks for the comments guys.

Hope the snoz is OK Mark?  Re your comment on the tide, it was way low and I even dinged my KA speed fin Yell depth checking the inside run.  Clearly that wasn't a goer.  There's some bloody pontoon at the top of the strip now, no idea what its purpose is, but that basically marked the edge of the bank.

The thing with Woodies yesterday there was a lot of south in the breeze, so even 100m offshore it was still reasonably flat.  Would've been better with a higher tide so you could get in the pocket at the top of the run and really blast downwind in the gusts, but still pretty slick with the low tide. Cool

Phenomenal effort by all three Pinnas! Time was tight for me and Point Walter was looking pretty dry when i popped in so I gave the speed sailing a miss and was lucky to have a fantastic wavesail at Dutch Inn instead. Certainly cheered up my nightshift to read about your exploits!
