Melville Beach, WA, AU 85 Sonic, 32 Vector, 5.8 Koncept. I should have rigged bigger but I was warned about 25 knot gusts. I didn't see any.

2-20 knots sometimes in as many seconds!

My first run was a good one down toward Majestic Point, then the wind dropped so dramatically I had to uphaul to get going again and it took me about 20 minutes to slog back. Then the wind kicked in a bit and it was fun if not fast sailing. Nice rolling swell rather than chop. A fun winterish sail but not as cold.

Good to catch up with some of the team.

Melville Beach, a few others out. Managed to time packing up so I got as wet as possible. Good to get out after what seems like a long time.

Well done on the distance Scargo - beat mine (still trying to break that 100) !

Anita, I had the fun of wading back to find the wind picked up almost straight away.

Unfortunately I had plumbing issues this morning so wasn't able to get out with Scarrgo.Frown

However I did stay till dark milking the last of the 2 min squalls for all I could.

2 identical display speeds of 33.82!Undecided How weird is that?

Typical winter day, sun, white out rain, wind and glass.

LB7, s100,gw32

Great team turn out.

Big day, Scarrgo! Well done!Laughing You will find your 2 sec will be between .3 and .5 less than your peak normally.Cry

Fun blat at Melville in a gusty westerly. Smile

Futura 111 + 7.6 TR7 + 38 Sting.

First sesh on the new Sting (which replaces my busted 40 Talon).  Very impressed.  Rock solid in the chop and went well upwind.  Not sure if it is as slippery as the Talon off the breeze, but very powerful and responsive.

Combo felt pretty good.  I was overcooked in the gusts, but they were probably over 25K, so hardly surprising.

A fair bit of waiting around for the wind, but some good squirts when it did fire up.

Good to see quite a few Pinnaroos getting amongst it. Cool

Tried out a new spot today, thought I may have overcooked the sail choice when some big 25 knot gusts (with rain!) came through but then I was glad of the extra metres when the wind backed off.  In the end the wind died out completely and I had to walk back along the bank.

Very glad I put the booties on, I may have to start wearing a wetsuit soon... the boardies and rashie were OK when sailing but when you stopped the wind chill got a bit nippy.  Perhaps the rain had something to do with it.

Still excited to sail the first winter storm of the season... Yeah!!! Laughing

Great distance Sean, and the other numbers look pretty impressive as well. You should sleep well tonight.

The rest of your data should still be on your GPS as another file shouldn't it? Can't you just add the distance together and choose the best of the other numbers?

Nice distance Sean Cool If you have a GT11/31 your data will be on your internal memory, just save to card and use Realspeed etc to split by date or get a mate to do it Wink

Anita the wind always kicks in after we slog back Undecided

Sean, did you add your two distances for today? As long as they are in the one day they count as one session.

Jeff, I saw someone wading back but didn't realise it was you. Fortunately I only had to wade the last 10 metres.

Great distance Sean, going over 100 is quite a milestone Wink. And it was not an easy day for it... it is a lot more tiring when it is gusty.

Sean, For cramps:

I recommend a couple of Nurofen and a soak in a nice hot bath until the muscles relax. Drink some Gatorade/staminade/electrolyte drink if you have it, pineapple juice works well.

For next time - Take a magnesium supplement - needs a couple of weeks for levels to build up to useful levels. Drink electrolyte drink before/during and after sailing. As much as possible, avoid getting chilled during and after sailing.

Hope you find that helpful Smile

yep i think the main problem here with all these cramps is that i just came home and sat behind a computer for too long not moving trying to figure out the gps Yell

and not doing any streaches but i think a little dehydration had a bit to do with itEmbarassed
