Decided on yet another mission down there since it looked like the best spot on the forecast. Got there a bit after 3 and decided on the 6.2m. Wind built as prediced and gradually swung as predicted. Used the 42cm board with the KA 21.5 asy. The combo was smoking condidering how rough it was. I had a crazy burst of accelleration into a breaking wave for a 42.5 on the dial. Good fun. A front line came over and delivered a mad burst of wind but I couldnt do anything with it. Was way too overpowered on the 6.2m to go downwind and guessing by the spray it was probably over 40kts at times. The wind backed off and swung west after that. Kept sailing with Darryl till after sunset. The tide was getting lower and the water heaps flatter, but the wind had also backed right off. Still enough for some of my fastest runs of the day. Decided to call it quits after a 41 into a wave I didnt see until I was airborne. Last run ended with a 40. Stoked. Glad I did the drive. Stoked to get another 40kt 5x10 in WA. Day 6 in a row...

Wow...long time no sail!

Pleasant little Wednesday afternoon cruise in fairly consistent (for winter) 18 - 22 knots and some rain. 20 odd windsurfers and no kites, which I thought was quite impressive.

Manta 49, Warp 6.3, KA23.

TUESDAY TUESDAY TUESDAY TUESDAY TUESDAY!

It felt like a Wednesday - it was a very "Wednesday" kind of Tuesday. A Wednesday afternoon cruise on a Tuesday - I don't see what's wrong with that.

Nice team effort guys.  Slowboat, Be interesting to see just how far you could launch off a wave at 41 knots - you'd have to land it though for it to count Wink

Mineral doesn't need to know what year it is, so what day it is is irrelevant Wink

Snides, not incompetence, you were mislead by that epic squall that came through just as you were rigging. It really dropped off after that even compared to what it had been earlier.

We,re not allowed 40knot averages over here. Must be some sort of by-law. Well....thats my excuse

hi Dan don't take slowys average as normal here..I could be wrong but I don't think anyone else has a west oz based 40average? a lot of west Australians have got a 40 average that was achieved elsewhere in oz...sandy point etc. slowys not your average sailor ;)

I think I've done 40 on the 5x10 in WA 7 times now. All but one of these sessions were in the last 2 years. Dan Engdahl got a 40 av at Pt Walter 4 years ago on the most epic 20 minutes of wind and flat water Perth had seen in a long time, and not since. He got the fastest WA 10sec that day too and it still stands.

Dan, that NZ trip was wicked fun... I was really lucky to get to sail over there with you guys.
