5191 days ago 1 categories Point Walter, WA, AU Quick 15ks after work with 5.8 KA Koncept, 08 F2 SXS and 28 Tectonics Falcon. A few hard cores out there. Hooked a few [4] decent gusts down near the jetty. Needed one more to boost the 5X10 but it failed to deliver before it got dark. Good to have the SXS back in 'speed shape'.

5190 days ago Point Walter, WA, AU What a mission... started at Pt Walter thinking with the storm surge it would be as good as or better than the Melville washing machine. It was still rough as guts. Decided on the 5.5m due to the 40kt+ bullets coming through in the squalls. Wild... First board choice was the refurbished 57 slalom, but it didnt make it to the water since a little gust decided to send it for a long journey all the way to the other side of the carpark bouncing along the bitumen and concrete curbing. Spewing. Wrecked my falcon 30 too. Next up was the 46 but I was a bit nervous about pounding about on its very light layup in the heavy chop. After a few powered up runs the heel started getting squishy so I decided to save it for the late session if it went WSW. Board 3 was the Mistral 95- its the 2012 screamer freeride shape. Super controllable in the big bullets. Decided to mission it down to Melville to see if there were any flattish patches of water. Off attadale foreshore seemed manageable and I hooked a nice gust to go hurtling downwind at full speed through the chop to get a 40 on the dial. Stoked. Backed it up with some out of control 38s before heading to Melville straight downwind. Man that was WILD. The pyramid chop was absolutely brutal out there. Total survival mode with regular bullets coming through at high 30s and dropping back to 12kts. Got to Melville after a few hairy moments and saw the big front line coming. I assumed this was going to bring the change so rather than smashing upwind for 20minutes only to end up where I started, I decided to wait for the wind to swing. When it did the mission back upwind was pretty easy for angle, but the wind... fark! It was pushing 40kts+ in the bullets I think. Smashing directly into the remnant NW swell which was still pushing up to 60cm or more and close spaced. Hard to keep on the water. Changed back to the 46 when I got there and shared wallyworld with a good crew. Just to remember how damn gusty that place is in a SWer. Got a couple of 40s heading back to the jetty but it was pretty slim pickins otherwise. Great day. Totally knackered now...
and a pic of the nice flat water at Pt Walter in the NWer before the wind really picked up...
