Pinnaroo Point, 115L, 6.8m

The swell made it impossible to get in at Pinnaroo's so I rigged on the dog's beach carpark 200m south of it and got in there as the swell was less stupid.
However, the wind was marginal, and it was a mix of plowing and planning. The GPS decided to go to sleep half way through.
Fairly difficult conditions so I'm quite happy with the result.

Awesome day. Finally the weather man lined up the wind with my day off. I wish I could have stayed out longer but I only had a couple hours sleep after night shift so I ran out of steam pretty quick.

Stoked to finally beat 30kts. Was playing around with fins trying to get the board under control and it paid off.LaughingLaughing

I'm one very happy camperSmile

Now that was better! I've already blitzed July's dismal effort. Would have liked to have done more but the body was saying stop.

4.9 Koncept, 85 Sonic, 28 Vector - A good combo for the conditions. Finally have the 4.9 sorted. Felt quite comfy until fatigue set in.

Unfortunately my aqua pack leaked and my phone is drowned. The GPS is damp but still working. Cry

Does anyone have any good tips for drying out phones?

Melville Beach, WA, AU. Arrived to a light-ish breeze but saw that Grumpy was planing on his 6.3 so rigged up and went out to give the hour a crack. Had almost finished the first hour when the breeze filled in a little more so had to push for another hour on top to get the better average. Lao arrived mid way through this second one and set out for the hour as well. Had a couple of nice runs through the chop but the corner flats weren't conducive to high speeds today so decided to give distance a crack. Great days sail with some of the team also nice to meet Col, Grumpy and Adrian (finally!)

Melville Beach, WA, AU

finished uni for the day pretty early decided i wasn't going to miss out on another good day of wind, so rushed home picked up the gear and headed for melville. when i got down there i was suprised to see most of the carpark full was alot of people out for a tuesday.

was up and down so decided that i didn't feel like going for the hour or km's so rigged small for top speed

was pretty choppy again but tide was lower so some opportunities near the bank

went out with my 26 speed fin and it worked about as well as usual in that chop so i decided to see if i learnt my lesson from my last session when i swapped to the 28 to go a little bit faster. came in and went straight for the 30 which was way better than the 28 or 26 in the end so right choice there

stayed out as i could see one last squal coming and woweee was it a good one

was in pretty good spot for it when it hit up near the bank heading towards majestic hoping for a clean run

was moving pretty quick as it hit dind't get lifted much inicialy just kept bearing away further and further down wind as the apparent came around to the point where i was boincing over the huge confused chop the squall brought with it then stopped bearing away and just got lifted up from my little seat down on the back of the board and bounce straight up into the tippy tow clentched buttox position, managed to just save it with a spin out. had looks at some more downwind runs in the squal but nothing even close to a clean line

oh well all in all a good days windsurfing on everyones behalf

but in particular snake and lao, impressive as per usual

much happier with these numbers over thursdays

Sorry, Obelix. Stole your jellybeans. Big effort from the Snake!

LB7,S100,GW32

I had envisaged a fairly relaxing afternoon with perhaps a few alpha attempts but had not counted on sailing with the energizer bunny.

Got to Melville to see the snake smoking across the bay. Rigged up and headed out to try an hour. Everything felt wrong after a session on the small stuff. Boom was loose, too low, lines in the wrong place. Started the hour and got about 15 mins in before deciding to can it as I was not going well.  Did a few bear aways and then stopped for a breather. Snake came in and told me he thought he had a 24 hour so it was time to HTFU and suck it up.

An uncomfortable hour followed through some nasty chop with big gusts(which I had to avoid the temptation of the bear away) 2 dropped gybes and the wind dropped 4 mins too early but still pleased with the result.

Just to inflict further damage Snake then decided it was shaping up for a distance day! At one point Scarrgo and I watched in amazement as he planed around while everyone else was barely moving.

Late in the day a choice squall came through and I found a line between the chop to get a screaming 34 10 sec and a 34.87 display. Pumped from this I turned round and went for another, got pasted and spent 5 mins swimming trying to sort everything out.

Decided to call it a day but you know who wanted to keep going. Finally ran out of wind before we ran out of light. Feeling the 440Kms sailed in the last week tonight!

JP Slalom IV 60, NP V8 6.5m2, SOS 29cm pointer

Great sail after work. Breeze variable but some really good periods of consistent wind.  First go on the JP - at 84 litres it's a full sinker for me but it was so easy to use in chop - pure joy.

Good Pinnaroos turnout today.  I think we may be at the point where one or two of the more enthusiastic Pinnaroos may be reaching hardcore addict status - there must be some form of therapy available for this condition.  I left at 5.30pm (dusk - heavy overcast and rapidly getting dark) and Lao was "just heading out for a few more k's"  Good grief.

I thought the wind was pretty constant today

Great to see so many people out, my 5th day sailing in a row. Pretty good for winter.

Anita, I think the best thing to do if you want the phone to work again is to rinse it with distilled water so that no salt water dries on the internal circuitry.

Another day at uni really bender, hard at work Tongue out

Some great numbers guys. Great results.

Congratulations on the PBs Grumpy.

Sorry to hear about your phone Anita. Sometimes last century....when I was an electronics technician, we used to clean printed circuit boards in alcohol. Evaporates faster than water.

Thanks for the support Damo, I'll bask in my jelly beans for another day then photoshop them out of my avatar...

Well done guys n girls, and Grumpy, special effort  Cool

might have to get my slack coit into gear now the Daughters house malarkey is complete.

Anita to get it really dry, place it in a plastic bag with some rice. That's after you cleaned it of salt water. Then get all your data off and chuck it in the bin. Money mouth

Great team effort today and some nice PB's Grumpy.

Sorry to hear about the phone Anita. No advice on drying the phone but when I sail I place my GPS and keys/phone in separate glad ziploc bags inside the aqua pac just as an extra safety measure. Hope the phone comes good.

Phone update.

Considering there was only a tablespoonful of water in the aquapac it is amazing how much salt the phone absorbed. It was crystallizing around all the buttons as the phone dried. I was hoping with all the rain we've been having lately the river would have been mostly fresh. It appears not.  The distilled water is an obvious and good idea to flush out the salt but I had already half dried the phone before I got that message. After trying to dry out the phone with a hair dryer, which was a very slow process, I liked Obelix's idea that alcohol evaporates faster, so I gave the phone a good soak in meths hoping to dissolve the rest of the salt and replace the remaining water with metho. This was a very bad idea as it started dissolving the plastic parts and now all the buttons are warped and bubbled around the edges. I haven't tried putting the battery back in but it will be a miracle if the phone works.

The upside is, my long suffering son will get a new phone, and I'll use his ( if he is agreeable to a swap), cos I'm an old fashioned girl and I don't use a mobile much. He is the poor kid at school who is still using the scratched up and dented basic mobile we bought him 5 years ago when "everyone else" has bright shiny iphones.

At least you didn't try to dry it in the microwave.  The rice trick works pretty well although once they get wet it usually is a lost cause.

Wow that's bad. Sorry Anita. It was a common practice, hence I brought it up. Embarassed

I hope your phone will work at least to recover whatever you had in the memory. The phone is obviously a history.
