Was good to get on some smaller gear, finally called it quits when the front came through and the 7.5 became a handful, arms and body were too tired,am loving the SX,its an awesome board, good to see quite a few Pinna's down there.
Happy Birthday for yesterday Scarrgo, hope you made your do ,even though you were quite late to it

4515 days ago Melville Beach, WA,
Got a fantastic sleep in (9:00am ) then when it started to lift at rotto i got in the car
got down to melville and it was in for sure but it did look like 7.0 weather, i was keen to give the 7 a try though after getting it back from the sail maker
so got on the water and it was all just right, the gear was good just some shifting of boom height and harness lines and it was sweet, wind was nice too i was pretty powered up most of the time
then fish pants showed up and got on the water and suddenly the wind shifted west and picked up a few knots for a sqaul but there was nothing we could do with the extra wind because of how stupidly bumpy and dangerious the ride had become, well as quickly as the wind had arrived it left
now the rest of the crew arrived and i was keen to have a go at slowies 68 before i had to go so i went and hit him up and as the gentle men he is he had me on it in a jiffy , super sweet combo with the 7.0, trim was feeling a bit funny but that was because of the strange stance i was having to adopt (foot straps not exaclty in my prefered location) all up i recon i could see me on one of those beasts
then had to go home for the silly family get together only to watch the wind build while i was home, oh well
7.0 reflex, 57cm mistral sl, 34 custom carbon pointer, 68cm mistral sl, need to find out what fin i was using on this one
great to catch up with some of the other addicts

4515 days ago 2 categories Nice little refresher course out at Melville beach. Pretty light early on but some gusts came through a bit later - short ones though. Barely had time to get in the water before the gusts were gone. Nice to have a few big offs and yarn to troutty and some of the other crew. Been so long since I was on the water it was nice to get the cobwebs out. All in all a pretty good day...would have been better with sunshine though

Excellent day - wind was a reasonably steady 20 to 25 knots and the water was fairly flat over the shallows.
A great place to sail with a good crew of locals. And Lao and Patrick joined the fun later.
Had a broken batten end resulting in a cam popping off all day which was a bit frustrating but didnt spoil the fun.
Saw Peter Dans get his 40 knot run - epic.
F2 SX 81, Hot Sails GPS 6.6, Lockwood 26 - fin was superb, super fast and held in perfectly. Good lift too.
Well worth the trip.

4515 days ago Lake Preston and Glory Holes. Road trip fun with JJ, Porka and the Captain. Good fun and first try of JP54 Speed. Nice to have some wind for a change. It was howling for the last half hour at Glory Holes, lao should post some good numbers. Glad to see everyone getting out.

4515 days ago Melville Beach, WA, AU 5.7K, 85 Sonic, 28 FO weedy 12-25 knots, oscillating.
When the wind didn't come in until late and it was so wintry I almost opted for a nap but glad I didn't. Nice to be on my fave combo again. Love that 5.7 Sonic combo! Had some really good fun in the squalls, and the water was reasonably flat. Disappointed only to get 27's, they felt faster! I wanted to keep going to improve the 5X10 but it was dark by the time I left as it was. Wind shift from WNW to WSW when I was down near Majestic Point required dozens of tacks to get home.
Toasty warm in my 5/3 wettie with neoprene beanie.
Nice to catch up with Pointy, Snake and Marcel. Sorry you missed the best of it Sean (Trouty said it really came in just as you left) but we appreciate your sacrifice!

4515 days ago 1 categories Yoyo's run. There's still salt crust flaking off me.
Pretty consistant breeze for a while, just couldn't find my groove today. Great fun in the suuuper flat stuff with good company. Pretty physical sail pointing back to the top of the course with the tiny fin, but it did well. Just need enough wind for the 5.4 and I'll be off.

Late start, got down to Melville around 2.40. Did the rounds to see what everybody was on and try and get a feel for the conditions. It was windy and a few guys were changing down, so I went with the 6.6 TR7 + 110 Patrik + 36 Sting.
Of course as soon as I hit the water it backed off
In fact most of the arvo I was underpowered, but I did manage a few nice runs in the squalls, when the 6.6 was on the money.
I was about to change up for the last hour when a doozy squall powered through. I took Slowie's 110 Mistral for a spin during that one. Far from ideal conditions for a test drive (I was either overpowered or dogging it), but I couldn't fault the boards handling in some pretty ugly chop.
Not a bad sesh, prolly shoulda rigged the 7.6, or maybe the 7.0, but happy to score a few fun runs
Good Pinnaroo turnout....the Snake, Anita, Marcel and Jeff all on the water.

4514 days ago Got to Yoyo's to find a mill pond and unpleasant drizzle. Chris was confident that it was coming so we hung around and as the trees began to move, rigged up. It was not overly windy but 5th run had a bit of pressure for a 35.5 on the dial and a 33 10 sec. That was the best of it. Still fun sailing in the super flat water and luckily I timed the front so that I didn't have to swim in when it went West.

A quick derig and drive down to Glory Holes saw most of the boys looking like they had had enough. Knew that the tide was dropping so out came Lurch and despite advice to rig smaller put the 6.3 on. In hindsight I should have added some weight to the jacket but early on there were some holes. Bit more downhaul than usual and I think it was faster (always hard to tell)
Did a few drags with JJ and Macka but it had gone very square.
All the best runs were in to the campsite on Port as the wind had swung more Southerly. Had a 37.16 as best display speed. Hard to push the 10sec runs when you are blasting towards the shore at 35+, a real test of nerve!.
Went for one long hairy mile way down the estuary but the wind had picked up even more and now the 6.3 was a bit of a handfull upwind.
One stop saw the board ripped off the water and cartwheel downwind. Water had got choppier again with the wind shift so called it a day and struggled to tack back to base.
Thanks to Macka for hanging around to check I was ok (sorry I did not realise you were waiting) that is what is great about Glory Holes. Close to shore, not deep and plenty of people driving along the shore should you need help. Reduces the worry factor and means you can go hard.
Happy with equal best 5x for the year in much choppier conditions than SBay and 5th best Naughty.

That's more like it!
Well done team!
Nice naughty, JJ
