Pepe47 (12846km): 5.8m koncept, 95 rocket, 27 duo rake pepespeedweed. Couldn't believe Yoko was rigging a 7m while I was concerned rigging the 5.8, but there ya go. Had some dynamite runs inside Hardies run but flagged it when it became too much to return to the blast off area. One happy pepe. Think there will be some very good speeds today judging from the wind speed and amount of happy campers. 18-23 kts at last measurement.
Hardie (35820km): Fabulous sailn the Peel estuary, biggish crowd for mandurah, very busy at times and apologies if I got in anyone's way. Great to have Sammy back!!!!! Rapt to see Elmo with his Mojo back, yahooing and yeharring!!! Heard Mr Peter Dans was doing incredible speeds for the conditions. Was like mini moguls when I first went out, and I heard PD had done some very fast speeds with a 4 in front!! First time tried Alphas with the Nude 46 speed, not an easy board to gybe, bit technical but started to get used to the technique required. TR-7 5.9m, felt a touch small most of the time, and C3 Slingshot 21cm. Feel good had lotz of adrenalin rushes Edit: just noticed that alpha sneaked into my top 5, I'm even happier now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hammer (558km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU. 4.7 + 85L B&J. Great afternoon sailing and some good post sailing tips. Thanks Ian.
Webby (1961km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU isonic 87 and serverne O/D 5.6 good session in a very good breeze quite a few out might have got a PB with a bit of luck
Elmo (31521km): NP RSR Eiii7.0m, Tabou Manta 54cm & Elmo Δ Weed 25cm, Tabou Thunder 70cm& JP Weed 31cm. Finally a forecast which delivered as promised albeit was a wee nit gusty. Looked promising when I got down there but had the Um and Ar's trying to figure whether to rig the 7 or the 5.8 having recently laid to rest my recently departed 6.2m, after a bit of naval gazing I came to the realization that I REALY hate pumping so went the Tim the toolman with the 7. First run had 35 and I was thinking here we go again as I'd yet been able to suss this board out. A few more runs of the same and then ran into an EXTREMELY happy Pepe who had destroyed his PB (well done mate) he was on a mission today and had the rocket rocketing, decided I'd better pull my finger out and try some tuning, started shifting the mast foot back and a 37 popped up oooooo sweet, a few more runs and another movement then a 39.14 on the dial (got realspeeded) finally starting to make this board work for me. Was seriously struggling the whole session to get back up wind because of the big sail, That and a pinched nerve in between my shoulders wasn't helping with a fair bit of pain and nausia. Had been attacked by a few feral crabs today but my biggest scare came when water starting in front of the Lenhoward car park in knee deep water I kicked the underside of a stingrays tail scared the Fark out of me, don't think the Ray was to impressed either. The next run I realized something had also stung me on the side of the foot feels a bit like a small cobbler, hoping it wasn't the ray. Eventually was starting to feel quite second hand and couldn't sail back up wind so did the walk of shame back to the car. After a bit of a chat with Snides, Cheryl, Bender and Norts decided that I'd give the 70 Thunder a shot as I'd been twitchen to give it a try the whole session just couldn't get back to change over, gave it a run going for the Naughty, had a few issues on the First one but got the 32Nm on the second with a 36.9 peak, decided to pack it in after that. Well happy with the session, good to see so many faces down from Perth as well as the return of our victorious happy wanderers back from LG.
Sammy the snail (29353km): Hardies at last, been long since sailed there.. lot of people on the water. Came back Sat night from my trip.. and straight in the hot bath , I look the state of the water and thought NO WAY I sail that crap after LG.. it looked terrible!!! Mike skipped the session (Mike you would have not like it!!). Then I thought I have to get use to it.. I setup the 5 (it was over 20 first) on the 47.. did not had any pleasure at all, could not get my marks, I passed few time Alphaland and not even tried it, did tried nothing, all scared me. Quite a frustrating session, I struggled back to the car as the wind had dropped and was starving for speed, wanted to rig the 5.8 and go back then I thought.. whats the point I am just going to hurt myself... so I let it go. PLease that some people enjoyed it. I am going to need sometime to get used to our conditions after been nicely spoiled by LG (gosh I missed this place ). The pain in my left foot certainly did not helped. BUt its hard to resist sailing. A bit embarassing numbers for me but here you go .. try better next time Misty47 - RSR5.0, weedster23 (bit underfined wiz the chops!) |
