oh dear what a balls up today was for me. Second run, massive gust hits, lifts me and gear out of the water, fin smashed me on the knee and by the time I swam over to the gear (which was thrown halfway across the channel) we were practically on the rockwall with the only choice being a deepwater rockwall exit. Saved the board, and my feet from the oyster rocks, but the sail needs three new panels and some work on the batten covers. Decided to call in quits rather then rig down, came home to ice the knee hoping it will be right for a sesh tomorrow.
The lads were killing it - Milsy, Mick, Steve, Jamie, Dion (thanks for paddling over to see if I was ok climbing up the wall Dion), Byron and Greg. Byron was smoking and i would be surprised if he didnt touch 40 today.
Steve had a deep water rock wall exit too, but only got scratches on his gear. Greg broke his boom clean in half when he hit the sand bank and had a massive stack. Jaime got a hole is his brand new sail as well.
Tomorrow should be a better day if it goes south as predicted, much better bearaways on starboard with a southerly

Super gusty wind. Left my 460 mast at home so could only use my small sail. Spent most of the time bogging, then a gust here and there. Hard work. Six of us sailing.

Got a sail in after work today. That was a very interesting session! 2nd run i broke my boom only the 2nd time on the water. Tried a one of my old boards with my NP Z1 7Mtr easier to ride that the mother ship but not as fast. The wind swing more to the south and picked up a little so I put up my new Loft switch blade 6.3m and jumped back on my mother ship (Bic Vivace 299 149L raceboard) and then got a 30 knot run in the chop!!!

Very taxing day today. Was hoping for some flat water, but no such luck. After yesterday's effort, this was much harder work.
Wind was all over the shop, making it tricky to have the right set up. At least we were at the best location for the direction.SSE - SSW and gusty, veering 15-30k, with some vicious squalls of more.
Fanatic SL79, 27Vector weedspeed, then 93Hawk Ltd, and Finworks 11.5"with 5.5 Gaastra Vapor. Had a few wild spinouts in the chop.No fun at 25 plus knots! Pete, Bill and Choomp out there braving the wild weather.
Thought we lost Choomp today as we couldn't spot him anywhere. Lost sight of him in the rain and squalls for about 20mins.I went on a search and rescue run way over the other side. Pete, Bill and I were getting worried. It was pretty wild out there with 2m rolling chop with loads of cross chop. I was hoping I'd get back in by then! Luckily he turned up way downwind, and made it back up to sail with us eventually. You did very well Choomp!
The gear better suited for those conditions out wide would have been B & J gear with a 4.7.Next time..

4201 days ago 2 categories Manning Point, New South Wales, AU, Sailed with the boys from canton, as well as some of the PMQ boys, Adam and Steve. S to SE 20kts with gusts up to 30kts. Great run along the sand bank, just a tad square.
ashame about the stack adam and bugger bout the sail panels. I got there a little too late to help, next time ill swim faster.
My cams kept on popping off, not enough downhaul and had no energy to pull enough on, enter Mick the strong man, he sorted it out for me.
Had an awesome sail today, slightly overpowered at times but hung in there, only had a few good stacks. All the boys were smoking and those gybes Milsy, Very smooth.
Had to leave early to get home to get the young bloke from school, would have been good to stay a little longer, but anyways them the breaks.
Thanks for the help under the bridge boys and the long walk along the wall.

4201 days ago 2 categories Manning Point, New South Wales, AU Real nice spot but took real dedication, some major damage to gear by most. Ripped sails, broken booms and bodys. Really good to see some of the crew and meet Dion. So much to tell, but im struggling to write this. Well done everyone, truly testing conditions. Just riiging on the beach was so hard. Carried 2 boards and 1 rig, up the breakwall path. Awesome location once on the water. S to ESE i think. 20 to 30 something. 6.6 GPS 53 wide Patrik 26 finworks weedy. Johnny Killed it. Byron hit 42knts and Gregals High 38 and bouced back well after multiple crashes. Stoked with today and sure I could improve on smaller gear. Thanks AJ and hope your legs allright. Go Marauders!!

Well, I was out of my league today. Massive congrats to Mick, Milsy, Byron, Greg, Dion - huge lifts in PB's boys, and you all deserved it. You all looked awesome. Have no idea how you held that 6.6 down Mick. Milsy, you looked good today man, that PB was well and truly deserved - and thanks for the help.. Great to see the Port Mac boys again - Adam, sorry about the body and the kit - feeling a bit the same myself!! Only managed about 6 or 7 runs of the strip myself, just couldnt get control. Byron and Greg will post some amazing speeds for the Lake Mac when they get a chance... You two really inspire me to keep learning. Greg, great courage after hitting that bank...
The funny thing is - I have a hole in a sail, I was out of my league, but I drove all the way home feeling good about it all. A great day all round - and to see the stoke in the boys that hit those awesome speeds made it all the more worthwhile!! So many stories from the day..... Now, to work on match fitness and lifting the skill level...
