Wallis Lake, NSW, AU

83l JP RRW with a 4.7 Severne blade and a 3.7 Neil Pryde Zone. Crazy conditions got 45 knots on the shore.

Bill (5407km):

Wallis Lake, NSW, AU. An outside observer may have reached the conclusion that we were barking mad. Readings taken on the shore line were regularly 35knots with one gust recorded at 45knots. Then the wind picked up and it was too unpleasant to take any more readings. You could see the spray being picked up by the gusts and whipped accross the surface.

As you can imagine it was survival stuff, overpowered on a 3.7. Saw Gabe swatted like a fly as he was fully powered in the straps on a 4.2 I think. I hesitate to guess what the real gust strengths were out on the water. Remarkably we had some fun and nobody broke any thing

Absolutely mad conditions today. Gotta be the windiest I've seen at Wallis. Measured wind gusts between 30-40+knots.Nowhere to hide today. Out braving the conditions were. Pete B, Pete C, Martin, Rob,Bill, Anton and Hamish.I think everyone was on 4.2's or something. Fanatic Hawk 93, Curtis 26.5,Severne Blade ,4.2.

Happy with my gybing and surprised at the speed too. Definitely a day for the not faint hearted and no hope of flat water in today's chop and weedy water!

Canton Beach, NSW, AU late arvo sesh. Should have gone bigger. Heaps of dudes out. 15/20 wsw. Johnny looked real sweet, constantly planing with nice Gybes out front for all to see. Sun came out and was a great arvo, even being underdone. Didnt take any big sails, but probably wouldnt have bothered re rigging anyway. 6 m gps 100 Patrik 29 weedy. Go Marauders!!

Tried a lot gear today Starboard S-Type 126L, Bic Vivace 299 149L, Loft 6.3 Swictblade and 7.3m Switch Blade. Best speeds were with the Bic and 6.3m sail. Wind was strong around lunch as I was rigging up but died as I got in the water! Tried Johnnys JP 31 weed fin HOW GOOD IS THAT FIN COMPARED MY LEADING EDGE FIN! Thanks Johnny! Lots of people out. All in all a good day out.

Short but sweet sail at Queens Lake. Watched the wind come up the coast all afternoon. Headed down the lake when the wind hit Taree at 2 o,clock and rigged the 6.6 ,and the wind came in nicely S-Sw at 15-20 knots at 3 o,clock. Water level has dropped so found plenty of flat water behind the mud flats. Happy with speeds today.

F2 sx medium, Hot sails gps 6.6m, Jp 31cm weedy.

Great crowd at Canton today. Nuts wind and rain for an hour or so after the change hit. Got a 32 in wildy overpowered conditions. Then the wind started to dropand quickly was underdone. Still some nice runs, and a great day with the lads and ladies. Great to see Jon L and Karl up there. 5.5 HSM, Falcon 101 to start, the 6.6 HSM and JP 112. Cold out, came home to a happy family and hot pot of soup......Lifes good....

Wallis Lake, NSW, AU.  Revo 4.6 and still overpowered. Crazy conditions.  I concur with all the comments from the Wallis crew today.  Just quietly though, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  So, just going off to check myseld into the funny farm now ...

Pretty ballistic today. Second session with Peter was a bit better as the wind had calmed down. Triple X wetsuit kept me warm in cold conditions. Way over powered on the 4.2 wave sail at the height of the wind. Still lots of fun.

Four runs were all I could handle, before everyone else left the water, measuring 30+ knots with gusts of 40+. Good challenge to keep myself and the rig in one piece. Yes, ballistic conditions and one mad bunch ... that's the right term for today

Sailed Futura 93 with Drake 28cm and KA 4.2, my smallest sail.

Milsy if the Wind direction is SW Harrington wont work. You would have to go to Queens for SW wind.

Harrington you would need South to SE winds for the speed run to work.

Killer speed Steve - another two entries in your top five personal bests - good one!

Jamie - Nice NM mate well done. Find someone to fix your sail? Mine was a writeoff, so bought a demo 6.6 of the same model for cheaper than a repair. Will keep the damaged one for spare parts and panels.

Milsy, The Captain is on the money. South will work, SSW in a pinch but you need consistent and strong wind, but SW no good as too downwind. I was looking at the bearings today on a map, and I believe the day I sailed it with the 8m was SSW and it was a very broad run, but fast - need a cracking wind that broad to keep the power in the sail. I will head to Harrington in the morning if the forecast stays anything from S-SSW. If it is SW I will head to the Queens mud bank instead. Dion and GregC keen for a run. GregK from newy keen too.

Hey AJ, thanks mate - yeah, cost me $120 to get the 6.6 fixed - a new panel and some patching and she is sweet as. Now has an orange stripe up the middle of it that covers  a loooong scratch (with holes along it) from where it got dragged. All good now though. The guy who fixed it is very reasonable price wise and good quality. Gve it a bit of a test drive today - all good.
