Early start - about 0730. Sailed until about 9 but with lots of stopping and standing on the sand flats of Lucky Bay whilst the 40+ knot squalls rolled over the top of me.

Cold.

same gear as the last few outings - 98 RRD Xfire V4, 6.3 KA Race 2013, 32 Talon.

Saftey bay with slow one and jj there was a bit of waiting around as wind came and went a few times, optimistically rigged the 5.8/ manta 54 for a few runs but spent most of the time on iso87/7.0

Went to Pt Walter in the morning but it was really uninviting with huge boiling rain squalls coming through followed by extensive <10kt shutdowns. Horrible. So made the decision with Norts to hit the beaver. Raced down there to see some nice wind coming through so rigged the 5.5m and Mistral speed 73 anticipating it to fill in... we waited... and waited... did a few runs on the 112 with 5.5m mega underpowered... and waited... and then decided to salvage things by rigging 7.8m. That was fun. So 112 and 34 CL weed. Had some nice runs with one of my fastest 10secs just before Norts bailed. A few runs later and my boom head snapped... managed to unhook and bail before the back end broke and sailed the other side back in. Packed that up but stayed in the wettie and left the 5.5m/SP73/CL24Sweed combo till the last minute... and then something totally unexpected happened- some wind came! GPS back on and enjoyed some runs with JJ before it shut down again. Best run was the first one sailing out of the pond, followed by a couple of underpowered ones. The waves over the bar were really ironing things out so it was nice and flat. Worth the wait I reckon...

Yeah Norts, shame you missed the best bit.

It was a bit grovelly for me at times on the 47, but just strong enough gusts to really enjoy the super flat water running between the waves.

Chris was doing the same runs, but in a much windier parallel universe Yell
