Jeff (13640km): Melville, fun day not at the office. Good wind until the rain came. 5.8KA and 95 sonic and then CA speed. Finally got that new 24 MXR weed fin and tried it out. Felt fine and I was surprised how well it went on all angles. Did manage to get it to let go but thats probably just bad habits from using the bigger fin (MXR 28). | ||||||||||||||||||
JJ (25827km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Reasonably strong and constant NWer for a change, some pretty full-on gusts for the 6.6m. Isonic first then managed to go a knot faster on the F2. Happy with the port tack NM on the F2, only just got the distance in by sailing right up to the shore. Isonic 86, Falcon 32; F2 SX, Black Project S 26.5, HSM GPS 6.6m.

Grumpy (8011km): I had to leave by 2pm so got down early and had a nice sesh. Was very gusty when the wind kicked in, too much north in it I think, also quite choppy with the high tide early in the day. Bit over cooked in the gusts but didn't have time to rig smaller. Between the gusts and the chop I couldn't get a good run off the wind so went for some alpha's instead and it payed off.

lao shi (41082km): Melville after the W word. Saw Hardpole getting some nice runs in to the corner. Windy as I was rigging but JJ told me it was gusty so went the 6.3 with plenty of downhaul (too much!). Took Lurch (should have known better!)and weight. The wind had swung so chop was pretty messy and just couldn't get it together. Came in for the 90 but the wind backed off. Big rain ensued and the wind went west so set off for a possible Naughty run with Troutty in pursuit. As we got past the bar we were going full tilt in to head on rolling chop so bailed and sat out the squall in 10m visibility. Wind never really came back. LB6.3, Lurch/KA 23, is90/GW32 Sorry I stole your beans, Hardpole! Don't deserve them. |
