bushfire (26346km):
4140 days ago Primbee, NSW, AU WNW to W, windy (!) with gusts up to 54 knots recorded at the airport.
A bit like a washing machine but some smooth water near the shore on the inside of the weed clumps.
Hard work, scary as sh*#t at times, but all in all good fun. Started off on the small speed kit but found the W44 very hard to handle in the chop - very fast on the flat though. Clocked a 40 and then had a break and a bite to eat. Decided to keep with the 5m and swing over to the W49 and immediately felt more comfortable in the chop (and faster). I think the wind swung a bit more westerly and the water dropped a bit to create a nice flat strip near the shore. No way to avoid the weed clumps but the bfbp 50 fin was magic only giving the ocassional "tug" and being very stable. The sail was very nice, even in the 40 knot gusts.
Great to sail with the team (Terry, Tex, Stu), Martin, Keef (of course) and Nathan & Wayne. Hope you had a good sail Phil.
