4116 days ago Wallis Lake, NSW, AU. Back on water, and about time we had a great wind. Not great speed but so happy to be back on my board. Cramps in the calves put an early end to the session, but good practice in getting my sealegs back again. Lots of people sailing so good fun!!!!!

Good turn out today with everyone arriving early to make the most of the wind.
Andre, Aza, Peter, Rob, Jason and Chris out for her first sail in two months, Bill and Anton came over from the other side for a go. We had a slightly gusty wind at first, 15-20k and gusting up to 25k at tiimes from the WSW with some veering gusts from the SW.
A quite low tide made the weed bank sooo shallow it was not really sailable, though Aza came screaming through the weed at a scary speed making it look very tempting. I did a couple of runs out of the harness over the bank and it was like going through a time tunnel with the weed flashing and strobing by.Pretty hairy. Tried the Green point channel for a few runs, but not much better there.Aza looked very quick today and was the man to beat. There was a bit of carnage today as well. Rob smahed the nose of his board after only using it a couple of times. Not too bad though. Andre destroyed his one and only boom. And after checking he was OK, he had a long swim back in.
I got a bit too cocky and tried to go too deep in the not so flat water. The first gust looked good, the second follow up gust got me as I bore off in the chop, lost it and collected the mast and smahed my windsurfing sunnies(boo hoo!) and put a nice bump on my forehead. Only damage to the gear was a overstretched inhaul rope that was not going to clamp the boom. Had a short walk back in to get more rope and back out for another half an hour or so. Hawk 93LTd, Finworks 10.5 weedy and 6.0 GTX.

Falcon 99, Vector Slalom Weed 30, 2013 KA RAce 7.1
Short Sharp session. Nice to be back on the water after soooooo long. We were all rigging up and the wind was gusting to around 20 and looking really nice. Hit the water and the wind starts to fade. Got a couple of fun runs, but most of the time JUST planing, or slogging. Should have gone in and changed up to 7.9 and Falcon 113 but really couldnt be bothered as i needed to get a few things done at home anyway. Was low tide, and even with a 30 weedy I was hitting mud on my first run across the bank, so shallow today, so just stuck to the body of the lake. Sailed with Graeme, Phil and Steve.
FIN: For my weight I normally use a FO Weedy 34 in the 99 Falcon, but I tried a Vector 30 Weed Slalom that Jesper had sent across for me to use. The Vector was noticably wider than the FO which is why Jesper recommended a 4cm drop in depth/size. The Vector was fully powered across the wind a couple of times and it was rock solid despite not having the depth. I am sold for sure. He has sent me across a 34 for use in the 113 (which I normally use a 38 in) and it should give the same result. This means on a normal tide I should be able to sail my big gear on the flat and shallow water on the mudbank. SWEET. I have a couple of extras that Jesper sent across for me to use, if anyone wants a run on one just ask. Likewise, if anyone wants to buy a 34 or 38 FO weedy let me know - going cheap!
2013 KA RACE: Damn this sail is solid - feel like I am hanging onto a wing. On a couple of gusts it hardly moved, just torqued up and drove the board fwd. Goes upwind like a train. Love it and am looking fwd to spending more time on it and getting it tuned up properly, as i am sure that i didnt do it justice today. I have a loan of a 7.9m and 7.1m 2013 KA RAce, and a 6.6 2013 KA Koncept. If anyone wants a run on these just let me know. I have them on Loan from KA until my 2014 stuff arrives in October.

Interesting session with my boom bursting whilst on the plane in the middle of the lake. Swam back to the shore and long walk back to the rig area. Thanks for all the guys stopping by to make sure I was going to make it. Good to be part of a team !! Thanks also Pete for lending me your spare boom. I really appreciated that so that I ended up having a decent sailing after all. In the end though I had cramps crawling up on my legs from all the hard yakka swimming back to shore. Now, I have a good excuse to buy a fancy new boom !
