Coal Point, NSW, AU

Moderate Southerly

CA70 and 7.8m Neil Pryde and a few quick runs on the Isonic 101 at the end.

Lots of chop, lots of weed, no other windsurfers in sight.

Really nice short sail in a beautiful southerly. Can't remember the last time I was consistently powered like today. Lot of chop though.

Marmong Point, NSW, AU

another demo day for me I.E. lots of different gear.I'm dissapointed with 26.8 knts. I seem to be getting slower and I'm buggered if I know why as I'm getting fitter. Can't remember the last time I broke 30.

The wind was crapping out when I got to marmong so I went out on the formula board with my trusty 9.6 . As soon as I got out there the wind kicked in again and I had a short but bloody awesome session. Those formula's are miraculous upwind. It doesn't feel that fast upwind but then you look back at how far you have come upwind in a few minutes.. they are a weapon upwind that's for sure. Downwind on the formula was pretty intense and very exciting not to mention shit scary.  After I ditched the formula I jumped on the JP 68 wide until the chop became to ridiculous and it was totally insane at times. Heaps of kiters out, big cruisers barging through us not to mention yachts, jetski's and the local dolphins.  It was a crazy but really fun day rounded out by a few hours on the crossover gear which is always good value. My fourth day sailing in a row and 5 hours on the board today. I think I might have a rest tomorrow. maybe.

c 20kts SSE - S Valentine, NSW, AU

 4.8m Sailworks Hucker - 95 tabou rocket + 30 cms pointer

Had a big day fencing and delvering stuff so pretty tired when I got there at 3pm. Only lasted an hour as tiring and starting to stuff gybes plus the wind died off and had trouble waterstarting. I think it picked back up later.

Bit worried how I'd go on the narrow boards in chop after flat water Canton but enjoyed it! 25 kts feels fast in chop! Got to learn how to chop hop again.. Used to be able to do it well but I can't even get airborne now..No planing gybes but didn't miss any either until I started to tire.

Quite a bit of floating streams of weed but I didn't pick any up on the fin.

I bore off more than usual and the leeward rail grabbed in the chop. I got it back together but I haven't had that happen before..?? I wonder if it's something I did or..? Almost overfinned at times.

I get a bit bored in flat water . Have to get my B & J better this season. Boy the lakes empty compared to canton! Russ had been out but no GPS as forgot waterproof pouch. One guy from the surf out for a while but all on my lonesome for last 1/2hr.

iSonic 125 Gaastra GTR 7.0

Couldnt stop the spin out. Tried 3 fins. Then when I had had enough gave it more downhaul. Big improvement. Doh.

Just goes to show I need to retire and sail more often maybe then I would learn how to rig and gybe.

Exocet RS4 111 / Cross 94, Mauisails TR8 6.6 - Wind S 15-20 kts

Great southerly session at Marmong.  Pretty busy on the water with half a dozen kiters to go with the 8 windsurfers.  Third day in a row sailing which is the ultimate way to spend the long weekend!

Well powered most of the time.  Had some fun runs on the FSW board, but wind was a bit gusty so went back to the bigger slalom board.   Pretty user friendly chop - rolling swell rather than random peaks.  Great day! Cool

I could only sail for an hour but it was a beauty.  Nicest southerly, sunny, warm, no weed islands, magic. seatrend 276, 6.6 sail, 24MUF.

Sue,

I know a lot of folk don't like Coalie in a southerly, but it is a great place to sail. It doesn't matter if the direction shifts from south west to south east. As you can see there are lots of places to rest on the sand islands, and it is beautiful white sand and sparkling clear water. Canton may be faster but there is more to sailing than going fast, although this is perhaps not the forum for such discussions......

LOL's The only reason I don't like Coal in a S is the launch ( it can get big waves + moored boats to avoid). Also  if anything goes wrong you only have a small area to hit or youdrift miles away down the lake..I suppose Valentine is a bit like that but the waves are flatter more rolly.

I hadn't thought about working so far upwind and resting at the islands. I wouldn't mind giving it a go one day when it's not too challenging.Whats the chop like?

Hey Andrew, I think regardless the conditions and location we try to maximise our speed, but we have become a little lazy with our sailing where Canton is perfect for that. You guys sailing your home turf show true dedication and do it well. Awesome tracks mate.
