kato (37672km): A good day off at the Pit with Pete,Mal, Gary and a few extras from NSW, all enjoying a good wsw of 30kts. Played with the speed board for 5 runs in the 42's until the wind backed off a bit and I plugged in the Mistral race to see if I could crack 30 with it The first run striped off the sailcloth covering the dagger board case, leaving two large strands as water breaks. Back to the beach and unscrew the remains. Next go...got a nice gust,up and motoring along but I couldn't get far enough back to get more board out of the water. Very stable in the chop and went well with a 30 Torquay slalom, easy to get back up wind with a daggerboard. Should have them on all speedboards Maxed out at 26.65 kt 2sec and a 24.506kt 10 sec not bad for an old dinosaur with a moden Ka sail. Spent the rest of the day playing on the slalom board see if I could get a 40 out of it. Close 39.6 peak Ca40,Koncept 5.8, Ka/Loc 20 Sl 53,Koncept 5.8 Lesser 26 Mistral Malibu race 1986 I think

Peter Johnston (8869km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU Best conditions in a long while for Sandy Point- steady SW-WSW at about 30knots, with a few squalls. Shame my arms felt so wimpy today. Note to self - do more chin--ups and push ups. Great to catch up with a few team members and a bunch of interstate interlopers - the big crew from NSW outnumbered us locals. Great to see Byron again and meet a few other speedies. Really hoping for a 2sec PB today but off the pace a bit so no luck there.
