adamhatfield (2074km): Fantastic sail, one of the best I've had in months, really nicely powered on a 6.2 Atlas and rocket 115.
Marmong Point, NSW, AU | ||||||||||||||||||
Andrew Haigh (50758km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Fanatic XXX and 6.0 metre. Sail cut short when boom head came off. This was my first sail on my repaired boom, more work needed.
rus13b (5207km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU axxis 273 7.0 reflex 36 slalom. Agreat day at marmong sailing, a bit bumpy some large one's out there, flat sections aswell but they always had less wind when you got in them. good to see so many guys sailng in one spot on the lake instead of spread allover. new gear old gear was all there. those star board race boards, 377 long were crazy looking must work though. said 31.8 on the gps but no denid a 30. Fun though.
Ian Wright (16360km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Futura 122.Old 2002 retro 6m.gusty 15-20+ knot SS/E.Nice sail.
Byron Mcilveen (65039km):
Marmong Point, NSW, AU 11m Point 7 Patrik deb R13
5 races absolutely stuffed.
We had 3 races before lunch in 13 to 18 knots before lunch.
2 races after lunch and it kicked in gusting way over 20 and it was a handful with the 11 should have been on the 10.
Well done to Brett a clear winner in the open & great to see young Nick chasing him all the way to the finish in the windy last race.
A big thanks to the unreal food from the canteen and all the race crew and committee to make an unreal weekend with our maximum of 10 races run.

GeoffS (8233km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU iSonic 125 and Exocet Slalom 67. Used Gaastra 6 with both but I think I ran out of get up and go. 5 sails in 9 days is a bit much when your out of condition. Still it was good to be on the water with the boys.
Cluffy (4190km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Gusty south easterly that was oscilating quite a lot at times. Still a nice breeze though. First sail of my new Reflex 4 8.6 and it went brilliantly. The thing set up perfectly straight out of the bag which is a first for my experiences with the reflex 4's . I should have bought one of these ages ago it's a great sail for my JP 68 wide. The 42 cm fin I was running was a bit small but that's easy fixed. I got on the water at about 9am and sailed until about 12.30 until my knee and back started to pack it in. I'm happy with 29 considering the conditions but I think 30 was possible with the right fin. Didn't realise I'd done 70 k's!! no wonder I was stuffed lol.
James Farley (12772km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet RS Formula, Mauisails TR8 8.4, Deb R13 - Wind SSE 15-20 kts Exocet RS4 111, Mauisails TR8 7.6, Select SL9 43 - Wind 18-22 kts Day 2, Heat 3 NSW Windsurfing Series Sailed the two formula races after lunch and decided to give the 8.4 a go. Worked pretty well once I had the harness lines set up right. According to KA72 map my peak speed was on Formula downwind towards the finish line Thats a formula board PB for me. The course was massive. Seemed like the top mark was almost all the way to Valentine! Apparently 1.2 km from top to bottom mark as crow flies.
After racing decided to have a few runs on the slalom board. 1 second peak was slightly higher (28.98) but 2 sec peak was 28.635. Good to have a quick blast but after 3 big days of sailing the body couldnt keep up with the mind's enthusiasm and I packed it in.
sboardcrazy (25430km): 15- 20kts SSE - SE Marmong Point, NSW, AU- Severne 6m - 95ltre Rocket with 30cms Tabou fin Really tired and off in the stomach had spent time in bef just to get ethused enough to drive down so wasn't expecting to sail very long. Not bad conditions for Marmong. Was a bit light on when I arrived but by the time I got into the water at 2.30pm odd there were decent patches of 18-20kts with occasional patches of 12kts.. More B&J than speed conditions. Got to hand it to the formula guys hanging onto those monsters in that wind and chop my 95 ltre felt too big at times! Did my first decent jump in ages!Where was a camera! Unfortunately too buggered to go for any more. Bashed my hand on the first gybe + I think the harness lines needed to move forward as I had a lot of front hand pressure. Result of that was that by the time I had to unhook to do anything my arms were useless. Used the severne again but borrowed Russ's Blueline 75% Severne mast. Set better although the bottom cam is still not perfect. It could have used a bit more downhaul But I couldn't be bothered redoing the whole thing to get more extension.I'd already rigged it on my Sailworks mast before Russ came over and offered his and just wanted to get on the water! Amazing how easy to use a cammed sail is .It never gave me any problems or felt overpowered even though at times I was sailing in conditions that I would usually have my 4.8m on.The only problem was when I'd unhook to gybe etc as my arms weren't strong enough to oversheet properly etc. Maybe next time with good harness line placing and no injury I'll be better. Bore away more to get speed but I was flying down over the backs of waves..Once the line unhooked mid bear away and that was the end of me ! I couldn't hold the power with my arms so the kit got reefed out and I had a swim for it. Must have been a good splatter as Russ commented on it.I got all excited when the GPS showed 26/27kts but I only got 25 odd here.. Bumpy port tack with occasional 2 ' ramps..James had his camera out for my last 2 runs..The mind was willing but the body wasn't..ugh Lots of people out . Will upload photos later today. I've had 4 sails in the last week and I think I am wearing out rather than getting fitter.. By everyone elses posts it sounded like it got over 20kts so I am extra impressed that the 6m was so well behaved and I handled it ok.
Mick Saunders (12263km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Marmong point heat 3 formula racing was success. Except for the early race's on saturday in which those strong, gusty NW 10-30 kn winds did there thing, the wind swung and good racing was had by all. Not me. I developed a pain in thre right side bum that made any strain on that leg near impossible to sail. One race only for me on sunday did me in. Baz gave me a couple of pain killers and so with a cold beer watching the events from shore was great action. Brett. Well done man. Byron you would have slept well last night. |
