Gusty, nasty Nor wester. Amazing how bad the gear can feel in this wind, draggy, jerky....crap.

Finished up when my mast let go at the ferrule but that was ok, I was looking for an excuse to quit.

Hopefully, that's why my gear felt so bad, with the ferrule collapsing.

Is that 3 masts broken now?

That mast breakage was my own doing.

It was the one which I repaired the ferrule (broken 430/21 chopped to make a 400/20).

Always a bit suspect and so I only ever sail it in the estuary where I can walk home.

It lasted a couple of seasons so not all bad. It always felt real good until today.

The ferrule came adrift and sort of folded over which prob explain why the rig felt so bad the whole time.

Couldn't get any speed as the rig drive would dissappear every gust.

PS....nice light session this morning, off to Kaikoura now, back Monday. Hope you won't need your mast in the meantime.
