Tibor (19100km): ![]() Another very pleasant afternoon. 15-18 knots of N/E Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU | ||||||||||||||||||
| Cluffy (4190km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Wow where did that come from! 30 to 35 knots North easterly, recorded on my wind meter. I got to coalie at about 1 pm and it was already gusting to 25 so I put on my overdrive 6.2 and my JP 56 wide and headed for the sand islands. The angle was not perfect and the wind was a bit light but it was still good fun. The tide was getting very low and I was starting to mow the lawn so I headed back to put on the crossover gear. It's lucky I headed back when I did I think I just beat the full blast of it. I started on my 5.6 cross on the Tabou 3S but it was out of control to the point of dangerous so I put on the 4.8 which was sailable but still pretty mental. I left my old 79 litre Kombat at home dammit. The 106 litre tabou was lifting off something fierce and I was pretty shagged to begin with from 3 days of sailing but I gutted it out. I don't like to waste a blow like that. That was one bloody strong north easter. Huge waves.

sboardcrazy (26796km): ![]() 20-25kts NE Marmong Point, NSW, AU 78ltre Tabou Rocket - 4.8m Hucker + 23cms weedie Went to coal and couldn't face a survival sail in 3-4'chop & 25kts +.Really tired and the brain wasn't working - I'd pulled out in front of a car coming down..so I thought I'd get smashed trying to gybe in those conditions. Cluffy was rigging. Went to Marmong and I actually enjoyed it! I'll go there when Coal is too big from now on - rolling chop with a few nice ramps , few lulls but onshore so really safe. Like old times. I rigged for the gusts so a bit underpowered at times but at least I could enjoy things. Concentrated on the positives for once and although a lot of the gybes were pretty average I made them and even got a really nice decent jump!  Went out further towards Eleebana and hit a dead patch and the board tipped me off and i couldn't waterstart.. bit worrying at first but i thougt the worst that can happen is I get blown downwind into more wind. Boy it's nice not to be overpowered in chop.I was starting to dread going into gybes overpowered . At least i can try and jump etc with less sail up.From now on I'll rig for the gusts for B & J and leave the powered up stuff for flatwater.
