Melville Beach, WA, AU

Xfire 98 with 30 weedy and 6.6 Koncept.

Pleasant afternoon getting to know my new 6.6 Koncept.

Chris P was doing a stirling job minding the kids while Jemma sailed.

Mettams, short sail until mast base came out of board (slid back and out of the slot as I was jybing), board took of down swell/wind and I was left holding the rig. Abandoned the rig and tried to catch the board, nearly caught it but not quite ! A passing surf ski guy caught it for me and once I had it wasnt too hard to paddle in to beach. Dont think that rig is going to turn up as it wasnt particularly "floaty". Could have been a lot worse, was a good sail up until that. Guess Im shopping for new rig tomorrow.

What a lucky sail!  I had someone to rig up my gear, look after both kids and unrig for me.  All I did was turn up.  Thank you my lovely Chris. Your turn tomorrow.

Safety Bay, WA, AU

We arrived to the locals rigging smaller and telling us how windy it was, but the wind was gusty and puffy again and didn't go over 22 knots Yell. Also the tide was too high - 0.5m + water on the run.

On the positive side the dredge is far enough out to sea now so it's easy to get behind it and still get a long run and the pipe is at least knee deep (at least it was on the high tide).

Had a fun time sailing with Geoff and also sweet to have a few runs on the speed board after a long break.

A fun sail at Safety Bay wih Jon and later Lester.

Just a few runs at the beaver to test a Carbon Art 47 - the board felt good but needs more wind to get it working properly.

Safety Bay, WA, AU 105 rocket,26weed, 6.6 severns ssr. You were right jj it was my PB. I couldn’t remember it was this slow. Thanks to following your track jj, and Geoff's update on the dredge and directions. I did the NM sailing all the way from Penguin Island to the end of speed run. Choppy? Not by Pinnaroo Point standards.

Such bad luck Jeff! Have you considered looking at the GPS coordinates and heading out with a boat to salvage it?

Jeff, bad luck! Was that your new boom too? GPS co-ordinates is a good idea. I have heard of ditched rigs being found and returned to their owners. I think Danijel was involved in one such story. Put a post on seabreeze in case it turns up.

In hindsight, what would be your recommended approach. Hang on to the rig?

Jemma, rigging and babysitting. What a man! and Pb's too - must be your lucky day. Well done.

Well done Lezzz. That's a really good nm, especially for Safety Bay, and congrats on the 2 sec also. I am going to have to lift my game... Wink That's the good thing about being a Pinnaroo Point sailor - everywhere else seems cruisy by comparison. I hope you can make it to Liptons tomorrow, then you'll really have fun.

Top stuff Lezz - not really a wind for PBs and you got two - that NM is particularly good as there was quite a swell running Cool

Thanks for the kind thought everyone, glad I only bought a second hand boom ! Didnt get to keep it for long. I have posted on seabreeze but will be surprised if it turns up. A lot of reef for it to get stuck on there and it didnt feel like it was going to float.

Ditching it was a no brainer though, cant paddle a rig in Smile and I should probably do some swimming training.

Well done on the PB's Jemma and Lezz, was a good day for it !
