3937 days ago 1 categories Melville. Gusty as hell! Very nice when a bullet lined up with the flat stuff. Good to share a few runs with Ricey.

YES got above 35knots at last!
A great boost after banging my head at Liptons on Friday: quite a black eye and a knock to my confidence. Very glad I was wearing a helmet then.
It felt good over the familiar Melville run after several Mandurah trips.
Loved the flat water gybe that got me a PB alpha, really cocentrated on getting back to cross within 50m so it would record.
Tried my Isonic 50L Speed Special but went faster on the Xfire 80. Might have been slightly stronger wind while on the Xfire.
Iso 50 and Xfire 80, Koncept 5.0, CL weedy 23.5 went very well. I think that new fin was part of getting 3 PBs.
It is a fantastic sport in which someone over 70 years old can keep getting PBs.

Underdone early on, and frustrated later when I was really powered up and should have been able to get better speeds. A few tuning changes finally got me over my previous best time and I was happy with a 34.26. Pity it got knocked back to sub 34. I feel I am relearning how to go fast and should do better if I get similar conditions again soon.
Just missed out on a 5X PB by 0.04knot! A second best nm, which I did early on when I was underpowered. Pretty happy with that.
Annoyed withthe way my fin kept picking up huge clods of weed and I had to keep stopping tpo get them off. I think I need to invest in one of those deltaweed speed fins.
Great to see such a crew of top sailors out there again. Liptons was the place to be.
Congrats to everyone who scored PB's especially Geoff for his huge increase in speed, and thanks to JJ for making the effort when he really didn't feel like it!

Rigged small to try and sail "efficiently" - doesn't seem to work for me, seems I have to be grossly overpowered to have a hope of going fast. Stroppo offered a few tips to work on next time.
Wasn't intending on doing a NM, but did one late to try to salvage something from the day - a nice wild ride
Fun sail overall, just a little frustrating...
Great seeing all the smiles as the PBs tumbled again.
Anita, Geoff, Jeff - super speeds
Mistral 47, HSM GPS 5.5, CL 24 then changed to DWS 21 (hit the ground too many times with the 24)

Windiest day I have sailed here in a long time!
I was fully maxed on the 4.5 that I haven't used since Gnaraloo. Some on 3.7!!
Nice floaty jumps and crazy wave ride attempts.
James MP busting out loops...nuts!
Saw Jonah early on ripping around.
Only had time for a short sail before an early dinner appt but boy it was fun. Our own little WA storm chase!

Struggled with a 4.7 sail and Futura 101 - too gusty for my liking

CA47 - 5.3 Tushingham Lightning - 26 Choco Weed
Another thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at Liptons with Anita, Jon and Jeff. The wind and tide looked good for a few speed runs so I decided to concentrate on getting a better 2s Peak. Hence, I didn’t bother with the other categories. Rigged the 5.3 Lightning which I thought might be a little small but as it turned out it was more than enough (for me) - worked beautifully on the CA47. After a few runs there was a 37 on the dial which was good enough for a PB so I was ready to call it a day. Anyhow, as usual, decided to have a couple more runs… 38.95 on the dial - well pleased - time to head back to shore, have a yarn and watch the sun go down:

This is my second session for the Monday. Again sorry for the delayed upload. Much more manageable conditions despite the wind increasing. Got excited when my GPS recorded 30.11knts which was my first time craking 30knts. Unfortunetly when I upload it showed a max of only 29.62knts. Nearly there. Using the isonic 86 with 6.7m overdrive. Hope to see you out on Sunday and Monday.
