Mission for the day was always Nautical Mile, wind was blowing 40 plus knotsalmost square on the long west course and we were making it up to the start in one reach sometimes.

First few attempts were really choppy along with some very shallow areas to avoid so had to sail quite a way from the sand bar.

Finally managed a decent run and thought it might be a 40 but not quite, still the fastest ever NM in UK waters and a 500m pb so pretty pleased.

Ant Todd had a nice mile also, a PB I'm sure so congrats mate.

Well it turned out to be a good session. I was a bit worried walking out into 40-50 kn gusty head winds and would have been happy just to get a speed on my gps.. never mind get a PB nautical mile!

Well done to Ian for his mile run, shame you just missed out on the 40Kn though bud.

We were sailing Southend on sea, I was using Mistral 41 and 5m Evo 5, bigger kit would of been faster.

5m in 40 knots sounds huge to me. Hope you continue to get god conditions on the water ( and do not suffer damage at home).
