Sandy Point, VIC, AU

WSW all afternoon, rigged the trusty 5.7 Saber and my rocket "pink starfish" 105 with 32cm curtis fin. Had at least 3 runs over 35kts so a good day for me.

Quite a few of the Pit crew out and Sea Skip came along for the ride, a fun day at Sandy :-)

Well that was an interesting session...

Looked a little windy, so rigged a KA Koncept 6.6 + JP Super Sport 100 + 33cm JP Fin.  Went out for a few runs on the main channel from the Rotunda... Thought I might try the Angling Club run for some deep bear off's...

First run - BANG - 31.34kn 2secPB... Woohoo. Cool  Had a few good runs... including one 5x10 @ just over 30kns... Laughing

Had a big off on another run where a westerly gust snuck on me from behind, over the handlebars and snapped a batten in two places on the 6.6... oh well.

Very busy on the water... too many idiots... including one kiter who thought it would be fun to come back down the speed run, whilst continuously admiring his own kite in the wind... and not looking where he was going.  I tried to bear away and then pointed up to wash off speed, to which the kiter continued to watch his kite and weave back and forwards.  Thought I had taken enough speed off so ditched into the water...

Not a problem, until I noticed one of my toes had a new right angle to it  Yell

Felt in control even in the bullets.  Thought I went faster but oh well still fun.  Playing at Angling Club and middle bank with about 15 - 20 others

You can't let things like kiters slow you down if you want a jelly bean :-D

Well done on the PBs guys!

Colin, I reckon you could readily add 3-4 knots to your speed at Sandy with a smaller board and fin. 32cm is HUGE for speeding and would add heaps of drag.

Roy, I hope the toe comes right soon!

I have a smaller fin now thanks to SeaSkip's donation, so I'll give that a try next time, and I'll keep my eyes open for a more speed oriented board...oh and maybe a sail with cams would help too.
