Bonjour from tropical qld where the weather is always warm (not), the water is warm (yes) and wind forecasts are deadly accurate (yesss). First day of slalom, in 25-30 knotsish, very hard at first but dropped down a couple of knots for most of the races so it was just hard but doable for me. A bit of a schmozzle as lots sailed in wrong heats so that little me made heat 2 of 4 in the final round of first elimination. So I was very conservative, gybing wide so as noy to fall but came last anyway. Not so bad thouigh as I think that means I came about 12th or so.
A very strong fleet, lots of really good sailors, way better than little old me but I felt pretty good to complete one heat let alone 4 in that wind. Not flat, quite bumpy, reminded me of Kanaha.
James & Muz were going well if you don't count Muz breaking a mast rigging.
Has been cloudy & cool, about 23 degrrees for 2 days & I am regretting the shortie wetsuit, was shivering cold.

I saw max speed of 30.2 on GPS display so happy with that in some tricky conditions. Chilly first day on green. Lucky I didn't do lots of exercise beforehand and burn off my "winter coat"! Plenty of wind so straight into some pretty flat out slalom. Ended up about 15th for the day I think. Lunch break then back out again for the 1hr freerace. By then I was maxed on my 6.6 and 69cm board so bailed after half an hour as it was too intense. More wind forecast tomorrow. Not sure how that will work out! Kudos to Kelly/astrid and kazza from tassie who made it through the hour. Huge effort.
