Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

Naish 95SP and Maui TR7 6.6

Well I thought it would be hard to improve on yesterday! During the morning the water was super flat, I was getting 32 kts most runs and a best of 34. I worked on my Alphas, which I felt were going OK. After lunch first gybe I slipped and went through my sail - a metre long gash.  Somewhat disapointeded I headed back to shore and stuck it back together with some of Gregs Tape (Thanks Greg). I must have used 10 metres of tape. The wind was picking up a little and it wasn't long before I got a 36.3. The tape was peeling off and the lower half of the sail didn't look quite right.  The increase in wind tempted Byron out on his speed board. I was keen to get a few more runs around the 34-35 mark to get my 5*10PB. Then it happened a front came through and an extra 5 kts, I was hit by a gust that seemed to last forever, just as I was in the small area of flat water. I stood in disbelief on the sand bar for some time trying to comprehend what had happened.

For Sail: Maui TR7 6.6m (Good for 38 kts) one small repair. $100

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 6.6 TR9 maui 90l rs2 first sail in 6 months as elbows no good.

But just had to have a sail geting the shits not sailing seeing every one have PBs yesterday which I congratulate them all.

It was just unreal to sail again with friends thanks for talking to me and being so friendly.

Had some unreal drags with Greg even if I did pinch his wind. A great friend and so glad I could have that experiance with him today.

Congratulation to all the speeds and a smaching PB from Andy over 37 with an old patched up TR7 Maui concidering we were underdone with the 6.6m .

I am tired and a little sore but not feeling to bad concidering I sail just short of 100KM. see how I wake up tomorow. Having my anti-inflamitory home brew now.

Used a 22 cm fin I made similar to a deltabut 53deg not 56 and changed trailing edg shape and was very very happy heaps of lift and no spin out but very powerfull more suited to the 7.6m.

put a carbon delta 19cm in and spin out city even off the breeze doing 36 knots it still spun out.

tried it in the 44 speed board and it was beter but they need a re-design for lighter sailers as every light weight sailer complains of them spining out and having no confidence at all.

Here is the incredilbe speed sail. Yes I was considering retiring. But the last two days have been so much fun. Even though Lake Macquairie is so much cleaner, sandier, prettier and generally windier than Tuggerah Lake, the sailing down there is something rather special. This GPS competition has bought together a great group of like minded people (except you Milsy - you are a little different) who make the days at Budgewoi such a pleasure. Even though I might never reach such heights again I will continue on.

Great stuff Andrew, not only a PB but the fastest of the day, even faster than Byron. Maybe you ought retire now, it can't get much better can it? I would think twice before repairing a 38 knot sail.

Hey guys, I have the same sail as Andrew for sale, $200 with repair and you too could be as fast as Andrew.  Mast also.

Byron, you bad boy, stay away from that board or I will tell the quack on you.

Fantastic speeds guys! Looks like I've been the wind sacrifice as as soon as i went to the snow the wind came in!

Congrats Andrew especially with a stuffed sail! great stuff Byron after no sailing for ages.About time Budgewoi gave you good conditions. Should be able to get 40kts with a decent sail..Wink Hope the arms aren't too bad now..

 How strong was the wind?
