I thought Melville was at its gusty worst last Tuesday, but I think today might have been worse. I feel sore and battered from bouncing over all the chop and having to change stance and trim all the time.
Best part of the day was a good turnout of Pinnaroos, so we should get a score on the board for the month at least.

A lovely gusty sesssion at Peli with no break neck speeds but much fun still had. I think if I had had my 95L Super-X some of the peaks would have been higher, although I would have been dogging it a lot more often through the lulls. The 116 is a pleasure to gybe compared to the 95 though! Managed to put a paint chip on the snout of my board post gybe: pump, hook in, GUST, SPLASH :( but is water tight so I'll live with it. Bunyip arrived later and I thought we could have a chase and race. It was me chasing him and to no prevail, I noticed my sailing was fatigued and my concentration was down and it was time to pack it in. Great fun session even with the lack of apsiring numbers.

I suspect that someone had the breeze setting on 'Random Fart' today. The only thing leading me to believe otherwise was the absence of corresponding smell. On one run I left the beach in 18 knots of breeze. 2 minutes later I was becalmed, then 30 seconds later a good 20 knots took me most of the way to WallyWorld.
Anyway it was fun to get a sail in before returning to the W word from tomorrow.
I think I saw Ricey flying around the place a few times.

Itching to get out again, leg healed up ok so with a reasonable breeze went to old faithful Safety Bay. Didnt feel as grunty as the observations suggested, still quite nice though. Met up with Sammy who gave me a few hand gestures on which way was best on the run, and he was spot on. Thought i had a few decent alphas but was a few metres off in the end, ahh well next time.

Just a weird breeze at Melville. Thanks to Ricey I now know the answer to life is more downhaul

Very gusty, rigged Koncept 6.6m without much downhaul.
Went out on Rocket 105 with 32 fin. Sail felt heavy and lifeless.
Put on quite a lot more downhaul and sail felt better but still not really good.
Let off a little downhaul, changed to 125 Rocket and it felt great, but so many holes in the wind by this time could not get a decent run.
Really glad I played with things to at least get to feeling comfortable.
Good to see Anita, Tim and Shaw.
