"Rig for what you see not for what may be" a wise windsurfer once told me. No probs the 8.6 it is then. Wheres the next verse which it says "you idiot thats way too big for what it is now" Embarassed Being far too lazy to change down i just decided to wrestle with the beast. Good turnout this morning, seemed to be picking up again as i left so hopefully more got to enjoy it.

On the water at 8.40 - light to start with, then the wind booted in at about 9.30 for about an hour to 20 knots with stronger gusts .

Had to change down fins to keep the board on the water Surprised

Good crowd out, super fun morning Laughing

Ended up being much windier than expected. Thanks to Steve's Surf Shed I was trying a 107L Patrik Freestyle with a 23cm MFC freestyle fin.

This was after a discussion with Steve that made me think outside the box. Moving away from big cammed sails but getting better light wind performance with my wave sails.

The board is really easy and quick to get planing and gybes nicely in a variety of arcs. Good maneuverability as well.

Felt slow compared to a slalom board but well suited to areas with short runs. Running a small fin on this board allows you to get in to the flat stuff too.

Not a bad alpha and hour considering the 2s speed and condittions.

Once you get the technique it motors up wind too. Stays planted through the chop. Could have used a smaller sail a lot of the time.

Certainly more physical sailing as you don't get that locked down slalom feel but definitely see the potential. Want to try it with a bigger freeride fin.

Pelican Point, 155L, then 118L with an 8.5m sail.

It's been a while, so great to be out.

Hard work on that board today. Downsized the board to 118L with 35cm fin which made it more fun.

David was leaving as I arrived, otherwise, never more than 4 sails on the river.

I went for a look and as I arrived the wind came in nicely so went back home and got my gear.

It was a great day to try different combonations and settings, so just kept going. Super bumpy with all the boats but good fun.

At leats I got my monts worth of sailing doneCool

RRD 111:Reflex 7.0; 36,42,38 M91:27 had some nice runs on the 91 but needed more fin I think.

left home with the graph showing 20-24 knots. Arrived at Peli which was ina wind shadow, so very hard to knw what to rig. I went with my "go to" sail the 5.8 Koncept. Sadly the 5.8 will be my "go to" sail no longer, as it became my "Go through" sail as the panel above the boom tore just as I was about to hit the water. Frown By then it looked like the wind was dropping (but still hard to tell as the rigging area was in a big wind shadow), so I rigged my 6.5. I was tossing up whether to go with the big board as well but thought I'd give the M91 a go. I could always come back in and get the bigger board. As it turns out, I hit the water just as the wind picked up again, and I had a lovely planing run all the way to Melville (which was a bit of a surprise because I was expecting the wind shadow of Majestics to be a problem). Unfortunately, when it was time to come back, the wind decided it had worn itself out and decided to go home without giving me any assistance to do likewise. That meant I had a light wind grovel home, through very lumpy waters (considering the lack of wind). It took a couple of tacking legs to get sufficiently upwind to come close to Peli Point, and even then I had a bit of a walk back to the start point.

It was good to get out in some semisunshine at least, and good to catch up with JP, Shaw, Claude, Daniel and Ken, and to park next to PK for the second time this week. We actually got around to introducing ourselves this time.

A good workout but not as much fun as anticipated.

RIP Koncept.

Good to see a good team turnout today, with still more to post ( and one naughty person who forgot their GPS).

Congratulations on the PB Tailwind, and to all others who improved our scores today.

Wow I actually guessed that was the board you were going to try Mark, sounds like you enjoyed the sail on something new & different, nice. My initial impressions are that I'm going to enjoy sailing with the Switchblade :)

Congrats on the PB Bunyip & commiserations on the Koncept Windxtasy

Anita if you can't fix it with duct tape, you haven't used enough duct tape😀

Also guilty, had it charged up overnight as well.

Tom Radis let me have a go on the twin cam below the boom sail that Severne is developing. It was 8.6m but super light when rigged on a thin boom and RDM - very interesting.

Fangy, you are meant to be able to see through that panel!

I just feel that with the way that panel split with very little force on it, that probably the rest of the sail is not far behind.

The luff panel with the cross threading was already torn there though (and I had patched that up), so maybe there was pre-existing damage from a harness hook or something.

Good news! Jesper assures me my sail can be repaired and the rest of it is in good condition. An injury to the crossply panel led to the main panel tearing and both can be fixed together. I don't remember what happened to the crossply panel - probably my harness hook went through it after a stuffed up gybe.
