sboardcrazy (25135km): Yeehaa! I finally scored a decent day at Budgy! 20- 30kts WSW- SW Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 79ltre FF - 5m OD + 17cm delta Wish I had the speedboard.I'd packed the car yesterday and stayed on the boat overnight and came straight from there..Might have got a PB 2 sec as I can usually go a few knots faster on the speedboard.. Forgot to do my chiro exercises but other than one minor twitch the ankle was great. Had 33.89 on the GPS but knocked down.. The bearaways were terrifying at first. I'd usually be on the speedboard in over 25kts.Put the mastfoot forward and used a 17cm delta to settle the Falcon down + extra downhaul on the 5m OD. Not that flat at first but got flatter later but I couldn't get any decent gusts in the flats..fun!! . I usually do my own thing but got some advice from Milsy and watched where the guys went and followed roughly where they went. What a buzz to get such a long downwinder. Played it safe and didn't try any gybes as I was mega powered. Later I did a few but they must have been too wide as it's used my get off , turn around and go back for an alpha.. Heaps out - Nigel , Georgio, Milsy , Mat , Steve L , Byron , Lajos , Russ and Michael + heaps of others..I'm so tired now I can hardly think.. SO worth it though! I was sailing like a sack of spuds upwind pushing the windward rail down so the wind wouldn't get under it and crouching hanging off the boom and I still went upwind well! So much wind it didn't matter ..Next time I'll go for some gybes. Bit of a dampener on the mood when I got home. Out of control fire 5 kms away and emergency vacuations..Lucky it was Sw and blowing away fron us! It bought back memories of the massive fire in 2003 where 1 guy died and several houses went up..We were only saved by a wind shift.. Summer must be here..
Tibor (18051km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU What a great day for doing new PBs. Good to see the smiles all the way around. couple of catapults in to the mud though l don`t think l was alone. Wasnt in the right frame of mind today. Maybe tomorrow. We are blessed with winds again. Used 6.7m and 90L mostly but tried the 51wide as well. All good.
Byron Mcilveen (64447km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Maui S2 new demo sail 6.3, CA44, delta17 took a bit to tune in the demo sail but once I did wind backed off. still over a dozen runs above 40 knots it was so flat and so much fun best day in ages. Jybing was so sweet I recon a massive alpha would have been possible but never went for it my jybes would have been way out of the 50 m as jybing at 40 knots on a 44 wide board takes its time to crank around. So happy with the trial of the new sail very light very stable even if under done a bit.was around 25 maybe 28 max so 7m would have been better.
Andrew Haigh (50322km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Arrived around 3pm so missed all the wind. Decided to go out any way, dogged around for a while and then got a few gusts. I have never seen the lake so flat in a SW wind. The spring weed growth has been really good in the last few weeks.
James Farley (12722km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Exocet RS4 / JP 84, TR8 7.0, MUF Delta 24/19 - Wind SW 20-25 knots Great day at budgie. some really large mirror glassy sections. Really enjoyed the gybes in the super flat stuff, and pleased with the alpha PB as the old one had stood for 3 yrs. good to see plenty of people out yahooing and having a good time. see you all next week at myall lakes!
mick13B (2068km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU isonic 101 5,5 hsm 30cm vector weedy only short runs today got too shallow to quick so just cruising around but happy with the consistant speeds didnt think my alpha would be that high always great to sail with everyone
