Yay a distance PB by a bees dick..( pinched Dezza's line..) If the iwind hadn't died I could have got more..
I took an hr to get on the water at first due to rigging issues with adjustable outhaul clamp coming off and inhaul jamming so that ate into any distance time.
Initially I wanted to improve on my distance and hr but once on the water I decided 2 sec was the go. Stuffed up on an hr ( didn't drop a gybe and only stoped once for a drink) by not having a watch and coming in to change down at the 50min mark . Got to get another waterproof watch.
I need a 6.6m ( coming from Vic) had to decide between hanging on with the 7m or underpowered with a 6m. Put the 7m on even though bigger guys were going out with one and flying. I could see there were lulls though so crossed fingers and went out.7m was ok! Tiring and the big rig on the little board made it hard to get upwind as well as I'd like but kept me going through the lulls. Got 33.18 early on.
Followed the guys for once and found the best area to get flatwater and possible gusts. Bit hard to get as high up as them.Very happy with my gybing. Back to pre injury standard. A lot of good fast planing gybes and even consistently got them out in the choppier section with a few fully planing ones.
Now I need to finetune and get the front arm straight , rig further away from my body and get pulled forward..
Getting tired with the 7m and figured I'd got my decent speed for the day so I came in and rigged the 6m. The wind had come in and this was now a great size with some good gusts ( 33.37 with this combo).
By the time it really came in I was pretty stuffed.
I had a bad headache ( probably from being a bit tense in my upper body) . I pushed on for a while because you don't get days like that at Budgy very often but came in. Saw I had a decent distance on the GPs so decided to up it a bit . Wind was getting iffy so went out on the 89ltre Falcon. Good wind in the chop but buggerall in the flats.
Wasn't expecting a PB..would have pushed more if I'd known. Happy with that as the previous was at LG with long runs and consistent winds. This with shorter runs and heaps of gybes was more of a challenge.
Heaps out! Lots of newbie youngens ( even a girl - go girl! ), Frothie , Mick , Milsy , Pete , Mat , Paul , Tibor , Bruce, Rus , Michael , Andrew x 2, Byron , Steve , + heaps more.
Great to see Michael and Ris fanging around together. They both looked great and we could tell Mick was going to get pBs as he looked fast!
Stitched hand and ankle handled sailing ok but the ankle has been giving sharp stabbing pains since the sail. Seeing the specialist in 3 weeks so will hopefully find out whats going on. I suppose it's only the 8 month mark though..
Great fun sailing along with a disposable glove on and a finger rips off then another pulls longer and gets stuck in your harness lines..
Heat wave conditions - driving home in my aircon audio capsule I noticed it was 32 degrees all the way to near morriset then it jumped to 39-40 degrees. The NW obviously persisted. Record 30 degrees overnight - Thanks god for air con! Bring on some rain!
That's a PB 2 sec for a NE at Budgy +Distance.
