2636 days ago East Bay, Osterville, ESE. Finally got to see how the Racing Blades feel closer to the top end of the range when I used the 6.3 in averages around 30 mph, gusts above 40. Since East Bay tends to be gusty, I started on the Falcon 99 & BP WS 38 - way too much board and fin. Switched down to the Isonic 54 / Vector Delta Weed 25, which behaved a lot better. Wind angle was great for avoiding the many boats, but made for square runs - top speeds were mostly at 95-100 degrees. Tried to go deeper at the end of runs, but dunes blocked the wind a bit too much there.
It was fun going into jibes on the speedboard in flat water - amazing how much speed it keeps. Not being used to the narrow board, I stepped into the water when switching feet several times - fun crashes! But I managed to planed through one jibe on the speed board, happy with that.
Switched back to the Falcon when the wind dropped, and getting the speed board going became too much work. Go the best alpha on it, my 3rd-best ever. Stopped when Nina got into the usual problems when freestyling in the gusty winds (falling face-down into the water with feet in the straps and the sail on the other side .. feet get twisted painfully when pulling out of that).
