I have a bad habit of loading the car with the wrong sails and today was no exception, packed everything from 8.4 down to 6.3 arrived at little anchorage to a steady 30 knt breeze rigged the 6.3 and had a little test sail come back to the beach and down hauled/out hauled the absolute shit out of it!
Race time, i was absolutley out of control hit the first turning boat in second place watched the leader take a dive on his gybe and i soon followed, by the second turning bouy my arms had died and i struggled to hang on when unhooked from the harness.
The second inside turning bouy seemed to be an upwind leg missed it on the first tack had come back round in two tacks to get round it. Think i was lucky to make one or two gybes the whole race the rest my arms were that fatigued i just couldnt hang on. Exhilerating fun trying to hang on to that much power in those conditions but just to taxing on the body 5.5 or 5.1 would have been alot more comfortable.
Learning experience - pack all your sails next time!
