Bully boy fat Basil (4877km): Peel Inlet, WA, AUan did not really get it togethertoday.could not find the best bearaway angle and was probably oversheeting. getting ahead of myself. good conditions good company good day
Hardie (35820km): Bit of fun, and actually enjoyed a sail that I didn't get a 40kt run even tho I was trying. Mistral Speed 95/55 TR9 6.3m Pepeweed 22/48
Binny (3116km): Fantastic sail, looked fwd to increasing the numbers soon. Tabou Manta 64 (Feels like someone has moved the footstraps, I hope that fat pig of a husband of mine hasn't been riding my board while I've been up in Karratha?) Ezzy SE 5.2m Delat 22/55
Stretch (31360km): Liptons. Peel Inlet, WA, AU. Started on my Pat Malone, nice cruise with FF113/GPS7.3. Came in, had a yak with Lunny, then I carelessly managed to smash the rear window of my Prado 😡. Back to the water with CA52/GPS6.0. Gusty windy, which strengthened late arvo. Great day with lots out 😎
SluGger (13777km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU Missed it by that much,Taxi service to and from Busso, KIDS...... so arrived late and caught 5 mins of the s.w then it dropped right out, Walk of shame followed eventually came back southerly as Zuls turned up so gave it another go. Smile n wave

Jonski (6717km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Warp 7.0, Patrick 92+kestrel 22/ Missile 49+VDWS25 Good day cruising and experimenting. Spent most of my time on what is usually my go to combo of the 7.0 with the Patrick and kestrel however I was very underfinned in the channel and unable to put my foot down at all. As the wind built I changed down to the missile which became an interesting combo as the missile is only 66ltrs and handled the 7.0 quite well. The 25 weed speed was great in the channel but will need more rake to shake off the weed in the shallows.
(Puf-) fin (15562km): Fangyvill, WA, Got out and away early,.. from the BBQ, and in time for a bit of mowing fun at the weed farm. The hoons had tryed ripping up the smooth but there was still some smooth in a few places,... and on the inside run with the high watter,.. and the wokkers giving the depth. Yep, a lot of fun, skooting about with some Pinnas, who's identity I will not reveale, just in case.!??? F2 SX-R58, Ka kon5.8, fin with skirt 23cm/53 weed,

Sammy the snail (29353km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Good to go back on the water after 2 weeks. Good also to catch up with everyone Went to Fang early but not enough wind, Liptons enough wind for the usual combo and test a new CL ultra weed proto. Was too small for the spot (18cm wld have been better) going across the channel with a 16cm was hard work, but I loved it, great fin that does not feel like a Delta weed fin. Sonic85, RSR5.8, CL Weed Proto 16cm
Elmo (31521km): JP SS 100L, NP RSR E7 7.0m, JP weed 31cm Well that was a whole lotta fun. Didn't trust the foirecast so rigged the 7m in hind sight the forecast was spot on, Oh well. Went out trying an hour and was having fun when after about 30mins the Stroppy fella went whistling past when he went to gybe his sail got a sudden erection out of the top and suddenly collapsed resulting in a Stropp sized dent in the water checked in and found his mast out the top of the sail, hung around for about 5 mins till Paulo went of to get some spares. Back on the water a stationary Stropp prooved to be a great rare temptation which I took great advantage of and quite happily used him for a gybe marker till Paulo rocked back with a new plug for the top of his sail so went back to help out whilst the Stropp rebuilt his sail. Once sorted back on the water enjoying the lumpy goodness and the gybe practise, did a couple of half hearted bare aways but I was having to much fun just going back and forth. The wind filled in at the end so I went back to base to add some downhaul and maybe switch to the smaller board, but onshore found a nice inch long blister in the arch of each foot, so being a soft cock decided to flag it well happy with the day. It's a good day when you have such a easily visible gybe marker. Great to see so many people out today with everyone enjoying the lumpy goodness rather than just hiding in the flats.
ratz (10868km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU started out with a couple of good runs on the speed board then it swung southish and got a bit patchy so changed to the 107 for a bit of fun out the back in the lumpy stuff. used a mistral speed 55 with a 25 vector ws then a iso 107 with a 33 tribal ws and a 7.0 severne R6

fangy (22667km): The day didn’t start well, with my left eye gummed up nicely by all the ash from the fireworks last night. The fireworks for the Sydney centric celebration of the establishment of the Botany Bay Penal Colony in New Holland, were very good, but the sound-track appeared to be an attempt to appeal to all ages and was crucified by a mash of truely rubbish remixes of some classics Australian songs. The remix of Hunters and Collectors ‘Throw your arms around me’ had us all looking for chopsticks to pierce our eardrums. Top Ten Fangy Grumpy Old Guy moment? Nailed it.
Anyhooo…After getting both eyes sort of working, the day didn’t improve as their first chore was a message from the Trumpmeister Stretch who was threatening yet another border crossing. A swift message of alt-facts, mainly that the capital had been moved to Liptons was the best I could manage.
Mission seemingly accomplished it was off to join the biggest bunch of wokkers I have seen this year at S-Bend. It has been a fab vintage for weed, but possibly the worst I have ever seen for crabs. I wonder if the two are related somehow as I hear less weeded parts of the Estuary are producing big numbers of big crabs.
Back at S-bend, Knave Iain was prancing about threatening the realm, but there were too many witnesses for me to deal with that in the usual manner. ‘Baldrick’ Joe turned up for another session of crippling rigging advice from the Knave, but seems to be using his domestic deafness to his own advantage and went for a more competitive ensemble and last I heard was happy with his work.
I couldn’t resist taking the FF28 for another spin. The Party Barge 310 and Koncept 7.5 completed the package. The FF28 really delicately clears a path through the weed, sort of like the way US Navy Aircraft Carriers pick their way through Greenpeace kayakers. I don’t quite understand how the fin could appear to clear such a swathe of weed, but not feel as though it is massively dragging. Maybe it’s part of my ‘more arse than class design,’ and now all I need to do is figure out which bit. I decided that if the wind built enough I would stay on the Barge and see where the top end of the FF28 really lay.
It took a while to master the flight, but the end result was that at 33 knots the FF28 produces enough vertical lift to get the entire Barge and its cargo clear of the water. And when I say cargo, I mean my GP grimaces rather than grins when confronted with my BMI.
Flying the Barge is something is hard to describe. The Barge is not a complicated bit of kit, just three metres of V shaping that increases significantly on the tail. The effect is that it doesn’t want to sit flat at speed, rather roll over onto is leeward V surface. So the hardest skill to master was to balance on the fin only and not let the board roll. But once I got my head around it, scooting along with the spray coming out from under my back foot only ( which is behind the leading edge of the fin), with three meters of board poised above the smooth was serious smile on the dial stuff.
The wind was strong enough for a board and fin change if I wanted a less drag and a bit more speed, but I still haven’t got tired of that prodigious lift, upwind ability and sailing wherever I want in one tack. No numbers, just the joy of a really good time on the water. The inside run opened up later on and provided a couple beaut runs. That plus the company of Rob (who obligingly fed the crabs for me), Anita and Fin equalled a great fun TopTen Fangy Day.
