BIB, TX, US

Gusty and choppy at bib today. I tried my hardest to jibe in the gusts but could never time it just right, the gusts were so short lived...Most everyone came out early, only few die hards left sailing in the afternoon but by 5:00pm the place was empty, just me left. Than, I decided to pack it up and go too.

Hope some of the scores help the team Smile

Avon, NC. Drove through the night to get here, and my sailing was rather poor on 4 hours of sleep. The chop just seemed monstrous on the Falcon 99, and the RB 7.0 way too big. I have no clue how Dean managed to hold onto a 7.0 in these conditions - big respect. I ended up using my 3S 96 and the RB 5.6, which still felt big in the gusts. Tried to find flat water near Dean's office without any luck. Eventually discovered a short flat area near the island, where usually the wind is lower, but there still was enough for a few fun runs. A top 10 Humpie Pie day. At least it erased any illusions about doing well at the Long Distance race - the goal now is to make it through the races without any damage to gear or myself, which would be a significant improvement over last time.

Out of shape...phooey Dean! You're one of the fittest guys I know! OBX-Wind coming up, hope it blows its titts off for you. Al should be down there soon to get some high speeds.

Don't forget to register for the USA 100m Speed Challenge, it's on again for another year to find the fastest sailors around the country. There's already been a 40 knot run! https://www.gps-speedsurfing.com/default.aspx?mnu=event&val=509 See if you can be first to 40 knots in Hatteras, you guys were close last year.
