2405 days ago Green Island, QLD, AU Great day on the Island in 14-20 knots .
Heaps of weed so used the Iso 107 Kestrel 22 Warp 7.7 in the morning then NP EVO 10 7m2 in the afternoon .The EVO rigged perfectly straight out of the bag -its light, fast ,cams rotate super well & feels fast -cant wait to try it in some serious wind .
Great Fun /amazing weather /colors sensational /heaps of marine life again -turtles rays reef sharks fish everywhere ...
The Kestrel 22 is such an interesting fin .It loves being powered up & is a different beast in the weed sections -it lifts you up /the board sits higher & it feels rock solid .For such an unattractive fin I am VERY impressed ...!!!

A bit of an anticlimax I suppose = the wind was really nice and howling along early in the day =- was out on the water boating till 1pm and things looked pretty full on - got to the beach and it still looked good - kiters going back and forth - Ben was on his way and Ed turned up keen to erase the misery of yesterday's GI debacle. Rigged my Hornet 7.2 for one last time - the new V8 is waiting for me at Startrack Cairns = hopefully will sail with it tomorrow. Got out on the water and stuff all wind. Went back in and rigged North x Type 8.2 - a Retro classic of mine. Was on Atomiq 120 but really should have brought my isonic 133 along - that would have killed it. After 45 minutes of swearing the wind Gods gave us a couple more knots. Ed was lit up from the start on his Gaastra Savage 7.8 and running a Severne Gorilla mast - something even he can't trash. Poor Ben didn't bring enough firepower and spent the whole session crawling along - which is a great pity. He must get into the footstraps at all cost from now on - then I expect some really fast times from him. Ed was pretty happy at the end of it all - and, for the most part I had enough cruising runs to make it all worth while - plenty of sun, blue sky - kite surfers and hang gliders - everyone who loves the wind. Hope you all had a great day out there.

Found a new kind of fin monster today, the DPI or Uni have placed weed growth enclosures in a group of 6 behind the island and 1 big one just off the point.
The big one is a mesh box 1500mm x 1000mm at 500mm high, so it sits just below the suface of the water on the best tide!!! This one ate my 27 Tribal
The other enclosures are 600mm in diameter and the same hight, these ones ate my 29 and Bindis 33 Tribal
Still a fun day sailing with Bindi, Binny and Cam, Flynno even had a sail on the low tide.
Used Isonic 90, R8 7.0 and Tribal 29, Then Cams Kestral 20.

2405 days ago Port Douglas, QLD, AU Went down the beach with Benny and Andrew they were both keen to top up yesterdays effort, with another good session..Wind looked good but i rigged big just in case, wind dropped just as i hit the water but came back after about half hr..mannaged to keep 117 isonic lit up almost the whole time with fully pumped 7.8m gastra and big fin..a few more kts of wind would of been nice ,but sometimes you just have to make do with what you got..Water was rather flat so it was just a good fun blast , Andrew was wishing he was on his big ISO ,Benny was looking for a bit more hp the whole time, pitty he didn't bring his bigger rig,can be so hard to judge the wind sometimes..it all started to die off towards the end..'At least i got furthure than i did yesterday..Cheers Ed..

The wife & I took our darling little pooch for a walk this morning at Holloways around 11am and the wind looked to be blowing a steady 18kn. After a quick consultation, I decided to make the trip up to PD where the rich & famous frolic for a sail with Ed & Andrew. Arrived at Four Mile around 2pm and the wind had dropped out big time... Started rigging my 7.4 loft (with Futura 122 & BP 47.5) and realised 2 of the middle batons were broken (must have happened with the mast break a few weeks ago). Rigged up as best as possible anyways and prayed to the wind gods... Managed to get on the plane just once the entire session!- quite frustrating to say the least... Nailed the lighter wind waterstarts, so I guess that's a positive. After checking the afternoon actuals, Holloway's may have been the better choice for today.
Ed & Andrew managed a lot better with their bigger rigs. Kudos to Ed in particular!- I think he bottled his energy after yesterday's mishap for today. Great effort!!
The Futura is off to Gaz's shed tomorrow for repair- have noticed some water seepage & softness in the deck above the front foot straps. Fingers & toes crossed it is not too serious
Nice to read the crew had a good day sailing off GI- bugger to hear about the new fin monsters, but good to know...
