Byron Mcilveen (64411km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU S2 venom 7 and 6.3 , falcon 89 and CA44 well its been ages since being on anything smaller than a 7 and wow a speed board whats that. so good love speed sailing had over 6 runs at 41 just couldnt jag a gust in flat water to get a fantastic speed but loved it. heaps of people out sailing and sailing fast wish I had actualy gone for a nautical love that I have a jybe in it I think a straight line would be better hopefully tomorow. | ||||||||||||||||||
sboardcrazy (25098km): 20-30kts + WNW Peel st Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Level 0.27 needed the 16cm 70ltre patrick - 5m OD - 16cm tribal What a great day! 1st decent session on the 70ltre and first decent time with the tribal. First time I've ever used a tribal in the board so I was a bit worried about coming undone with the unknown quantity when it was howling.. The gear was terrific! Fin never let go and I hit several objects ( hard) and thought the fin would be dead ..The fin looks a bit frayed around the edges but it just popped over them. It was really firmly wedged into the board after all the impacts but the rear edge didn't dig into the board so I'm very happy. When I first got out it was a bit patchy for the 70ltre and I was going to go get the 80iso but Maree had just got 36kts + so I figured I'd hang onto it a little longer as it's faster..The wind came in and it was great! Despite being mega powered with the 5m I never felt worried . That combo is very forgiving and feels safe. Stoked with the alpha.. I can't even remember that gybe.. I got the first 3 gybes but after I was flipped and trying to sail off I was on the bottom..I did one where I was a bit unco but actually slowly planed out..I was being whimpy and not really going for it in decent wind so I'm looking forward to getting used to the board and hopefully being able to link gybes.. It really came in hard about midday and I had a full on ride in for lunch and then sat out the next hr as it was ballistic..It seemed to have died a bit so I poked my head out and had another go but I stuffed the nm attempt by being too cautious and getting too many lulls. Went flying through the bergs and I remember one run doing 34+ ( fast for me) and heading for this big dry berg with an unknown fin..'Oh crap!!!!''..Straight through it.. It was pretty patchy by now but it had flattened out so if you could score a decent gust in the flats it was great. I love a WNW when it's consistent.. First time with the GW60 and I loved the feedback. It didn't show any alphas and I've posted from the GT31.. I got all excited as it said 35.5kts but it was setup for 1 sec.. My 5m is an old 2009 prototype OD with 4 cams- the bottom removable although I never have. What a ripper of a sail! Never misbehaved despite a 4 or 4.5m being a better fit for today.. Heaps out enjoying themselves..Many happy faces..Mick B was stoked and got PB.s.. Maree killed it! Lot of happy people tonight.. 2sec and 5 x 10 are in my top5.... 2 sec is my 3rd best and the 5 x 10 is my 2nd best ( location PB and NSW PB).. I thank the watch for that as I was more motivated to go for more runs because of the feedback. Thanks to Mark Jordan of Jordans Boating for the fin and watch!
