Today I felt like Valentino Rossi when Casey Stoner told him that his ambition exceeded his ability. My ambition sure did exceed my ability today....hence the all time distance PB.

25-30 kts. I think this was the strongest NE I have ever seen.

Tried to do an hour but it was hopeless. Supidly overpowered, I ended up right up in Belmont bay where things were only half crazy. Hsd trouble getting back down wind. Had a nasty off and did the splits. Leg sore.

Short sail after work.  Fun in the gusts but some big lulls in between.

Went to Coal Point .Saw huge swells with water spraying off the tops and guys telliing me its very windy!!!! Rigged 5.7 R8 Overdrive and Fanatic Ray 102.

Recon that wave gear would be more suitable. Hung around for a while anticipating wind dropping but seamed to be the opposite.

Decided to pack up and head to Marmong hoping for more suitable(for me and my gear) conditions. Well that was a mistake, the most gusty, holey and shifty E/N/E at  5-20 knots made for a pretty ordinary sail. I know what your saying Glenn.Frown

Budgie may have been the best option. Maybe tomorrowSmile.

If Sunday is the same as today I will have to dust off the old Seatrend ATV and 5m Revo.

well started a bit underdone on 6.3 but wow it soon was super powered up gusting 30 to 35 spraying water HUGE chop and wind swell cranking seebreeze what a spot scary at time but so enjoyable as well if you had put a weed fin in and run the top coarse there was way more speed to be had but just stuck with the pointer and went in the chop.

Coal Point, NSW, AU. 4.8 Hucker 90 Naish. One of the the biggest and best Coalie Nor Easters I've seen. Just an awesome bump and jump session. Heaps out but most headed up towards Belmont for the "flatter" water. The big boys looked really impressive on their slalom gear, absolutely power up and flying despite the big rollers and chop.

15-24kts NE- ENE 7th ave Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level 0.413

Well that is better than I expected..The watch said my best alpha was 17.55 and I had decided that today I'd actually try for alphas for the first time..I got demoralised and gave up..Laughing.. Apparently it wasn't a good day to try as the wind headed you as you went in so you ended up too far down and hard to make the 50m back at the end..Undecided

I actually started to have fun after i gave up on alphas and did a few flatchat planing gybes which were great fun..Tongue out Probably too wide though.. I also pushed myself to gybe really powered up in the small chop 6" - 1' and surprised myself by doing quite a few planing gybes although the exits were a bit unco as I was trying to get back into the straps..Laughing

Tiring but good..strongs and choppy out in the chop and a bit patchy in the flats but good if you could score a gust. Well powered on the 6.2m in the gusts..

At first glance it was extremely alarming and gave a few sailors quite a shock. There were two of them and they hung around within 50m of the boat ramp for several hours.

Manta rays.Cool We saw 2  of them near the boat a few years ago..

Ian- I would have gone to Marmong too- It's surprising that it was so gusty. Usually its pretty good when Coal is over the top.
