We almost didnt go, what with the promise of good wind at home, Thank Fangy we didnt!!!
Stretchy was already out so with a little SluGger local knowledge we were sent to our doom. I rigged the 7.0 as the wind indicated thats what i would need and the 125 with the lender Tribal Delta. Such a cool fin but too small for my hefty rear foot. It certainly did its job of shedding the weed but i was sailing with my rear foot out to help get up wind. It was later pointed out that the board was the problem at 76 wide, so obvious. It still gave me plenty of nice runs, i love the soose stuff too. Ill be getting a 22 or 20 instead. I wasted a bit of time trying to fit camera gear to the boom which ultimately got in the way of the gybe sail flips. Will be interesting to see what the footage is like tho. Came in to get rid of the camera and swap the board to smaller & fin to bigger, thats when the shit hit the fan. I ran over the only large berg and landed on my forearm on the boom somehow sliding from elbow to wrist to remove my watch (didnt notice) then recovered to change tack and hit the ground at the other gybe to land on the sails bottom batten, BOOM! broken. So in a period of 10-15min i managet to go about 500m all the way back to the rigging area. Derigged and up with the trusty 6.2. YAY All went well from there with the WS29 giving plenty of grip anf pointing and only touching down a few times. Planing gybes were like meeting an old friend again, so sweet in the flats. I followed Stretchy Decrepit & Jonski for a few Nm runs which were alot smoother than last time up here. All in all a great session considering. I do feel a little ripped off as I could only manage 50km.
Great to See Chris flying and after a tweak he was in the back strap easy peasy. And Mr 101 himself getting 106km, next time im going to follow him except when i pass him. And plenty of MM & Pinners too, great day with plenty of stoke.
I lost me reef sandles too, but i get to buy new ones
